Jack Black is genius in the worlds of comedy and music–the actor behind Claptrap, from the upcoming Borderlands Film (if you haven’t heard about it, you will), teamed up with his longtime sidekick, Kyle Gass, to deliver a new potential hit in honor of the release of Kung Fu Panda 4. The music of choice, this time, is Britney Spears’ famous hit song, “Baby One More Time.”

Jack Black and Kyle Gass — together making Tenacious D — dropped the cover after several days of teasing. The song is a part of the Kung Fu Panda 4 soundtrack. The rock interpretation of one of Spears’ most famous hits, which originally hit the music charts in 1998, has already skyrocketed pass a million views on YouTube.

[Dustin] Hoffman’s appearance is a rather interesting one, considering just how rare his public sightings have become following a series of controversies dating back to 2017.

This masterfully done cover follows the success of “Peaches,” the song Jack Black performed last year for the animated Super Mario Bros movie in which he portrayed the film’s villain, Bowser. “Baby One More Times” adds another entry Tenacious D’s already extensive cover repertoire, which includes the likes of “Wicked Game.” Then there are the duo’s original hits, like “Wonder Boy” and “Video Games,” the latter of which was dedicated to Red Dead Redemption 2.

According to Black, it was [Mike] Mitchell’s idea for Tenacious D to cover “Baby One More Time” specifically, as it fits the kung-fu aspect of the film.

However, the newly released video for “Baby One More Time” has both Jack Black and Kyle Gass surrounded by the cast of the Kung Fu Panda saga, bringing together all the greats of the franchise. This includes Dustin Hoffman (Shifu), James Hong (Mr. Ping), Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston (Li), and Randall Duk Kim (Oogway). Hoffman’s appearance is a rather interesting one, considering just how rare his public sightings have become following a series of controversies dating back to 2017.

Besides having a fantastic end credits song, Kung Fu Panda 4 follows the adventures of Po—Jack Black’s martial arts panda character—as he’s trying to find and train a new Dragon Warrior

As for the cover itself, the song is featured in Kung Fu Panda 4’s end credits, and those who missed the film’s debut at the Los Angeles premiere last Sunday can still go and watch it in theaters. Apparently, the idea for the song came about when director Mike Mitchell asked Black whether Tenacious D would do the song for the end credits, after which Black suggested covering Britney Spears. According to Black, it was Mitchell’s idea for Tenacious D to cover “Baby One More Time” specifically, as it fits the kung-fu aspect of the film.

Besides having a fantastic end credits song, Kung Fu Panda 4 follows the adventures of Po—Jack Black’s martial arts panda character—as he’s trying to find and train a new Dragon Warrior while a wicked sorceress plans to re-summon all the master villains whom Po has vanquished to the spirit realm. It’s the direct sequel of the successful third installment and the funniest one of the four, at least according to Jack Black.
