Well that's interesting move.

A new trailer for Dancing With the Stars reminds us of a time when the Mirrorball went up in smoke. With the Season 31 premiere of the hit ABC turned Disney+ series just a month away, the network released a trailer giving fans a touching look into the past, present, and future of the movin’ and groovin’ contest based show. Among the lineup of old and new(ish) faces, fans heard a touching remark from Tommy Chong, one half of the pot smoking comedy duo, Cheech and Chong. Appearing on the show’s 19th season, Chong and his partner Peta Murgatroyd would wind up in fifth place after the judges had their final say.

Along with Chong, contestants of Dancing With the Stars seasons past including JoJo Siwa, James Van Der Beek, Nev Schulman, and Bindi Irwin can be seen and heard as the trailer plays out. Each speaks to how the competition changed their lives for the better, allowing them an outlet through which they were able to process heavy emotions and push themselves to reach a goal alongside their partner week after week. We also heard from returning co-host, Tyra Banks who will be joined this year by Season 19 winner and star of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Alfonso Ribeiro.

The upcoming season will have the celebrities and dancers strutting their stuff and showing off their moves in front of a panel of judges that includes Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and Derek Hough. In an exciting change up, not only will Dancing With the Stars be moving to Disney+ from its home network of ABC, but it will be the first live-streaming reality show in the U.S. That’s right, when Season 31 drops on September 19, it will be the very first of its kind to air live tapings weekly on a streaming platform. The success or failure of the show’s new broadcasting system could absolutely set the course for how we can expect to watch similar content in the future.

As for Dancing With the Stars alum, Tommy Chong, audiences will soon be seeing him step back into a role from the past. Several months ago, it was confirmed that the comedian and entertainer would be reprising his role as the pot smoking Photo Hut owner, Leo, from That ‘70s Show in Netflix’s reboot – That ‘90s Show. While little is known about how often or how little Chong will appear in the production, we do know that he’s slated to join a cast that includes the returning likes of Topher Grace, Wilmer Valderrama, Laura Prepon, Kurtwood Smith, Debra Jo Rupp, Ashton Kutcher, and Mila Kunis. A new take on an old classic, the series will follow the life of Eric (Grace) and Donna Forman’s (Prepon) daughter, Leia (Callie Haverda) as she goes to live with her grandparents in Point Place, Wisconsin for the summer.

With a new season of Dancing With the Stars just around the corner, it’s still up in the air as to who the new cast members will be. That answer – and maybe more – will be answered live on Good Morning America during its September 8 broadcast. Get ready to see the fancy steps and glitzy costumes when the hit competition show returns on September 19.
