Chris Pratt is being chased by a brand new dinosaur in the latest image from Jurassic World: Dominion – or Jurassic World 3. The movie’s release date has been pushed back several times due to the coronavirus pandemic. But now, Universal Pictures is doing its best to hype up the film ahead of its 2022 premiere.

In an interview with Empire, director Colin Trevorrow unveiled a new photo from the movie and gave readers a little context as well. He explained that the image showcases an action sequence set in Malta. And the picture speaks for itself. Chris Pratt is being hunted by an Atrociraptor. And the director says, if it catches up, he’s going to die because those things are brutal.

Raptors have always been the most menacing dinosaurs in the Jurassic Park movies. It was their almost human-like thinking that made them so terrifying. In the new film, Chris Pratt has to face off against their cousins who have an additional boisterousness that makes them formidable foes. According to Trevorrow, the Velociraptors are stealth hunters, while the Atrociraptors are a bit more brutish.

The Chris Pratt starrer will also introduce Pyroraptors to the story, among a swathe of other new species. Trevorrow won’t say much about them, except that they’re his favorites. The Moros Intrepidus will also make its debut in the upcoming movie. The introduction of this dinosaur species sparked the “feathers or no feathers” debate that has plagued Jurassic Park for years.

Although the original trilogy tried to settle those arguments by stating that the park’s creatures were created by splicing dinosaur DNA with frog DNA, fans and critics were still unhappy with the inaccuracy. But since the existence of feathered dinosaurs has been scientifically proven, the studio decided it was the right time to introduce them to audiences in Chris Pratt’s latest Jurassic Park offering.

Jurassic World: Dominion will be the third and final movie in the Jurassic World trilogy and the sixth installment in the Jurassic Park franchise. The science-fiction adventure film is directed by Colin Trevorrow, who wrote the screenplay with Emily Carmichael, based on a story by Trevorrow and his writing partner, Derek Connolly. Alexandra Derbyshire executive produces alongside Trevorrow and Steven Spielberg. The story takes place four years after the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. After genetically engineered dinosaurs were auctioned to companies around the world, others were released on the United States mainland. Chris Pratt’s Owen Grady is said to travel around the world, trying to help humanity deal with various invasive dinosaur species.

Jurassic World 3 will see Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and BD Wong reprising their roles as Owen Grady, Claire Dearing, and Dr. Henry Wu respectively. Additionally, a few familiar characters from the original Jurassic Park trilogy are expected to appear in the new film. This includes Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), and Dr. Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern). Jurassic World: Dominion, starring Chris Pratt, is set to hit theaters on June 10, 2022.
