The Office Star Rainn Wilson Has Changed His Name Because Of Climate Change
Rain Wilson has changed his name to Rainnfall Heat Wave Extreme Winter Wilson to combat climate change.
You may be dedicated to battling climate change, but maybe not as dedicated as The Office star Rainn Wilson is. Wilson has officially changed his name to Rainnfall Heat Wave Extreme Winter Wilson. While some might have thought this to be a joke considering the man is one of the biggest comedic actors in the world, he assured his name change is “as serious as the melting artic.”
Rainn Wilson is a board member for Arctic Basecamp, which resulted in the man taking the drastic change to his name to couple with a campaign that is being enacted by the climate change awareness body. The campaign is also in light of the United Nation’s COP 27 meeting that is happening currently in Egypt. Wilson is attempting to bring far more awareness to the melting ice caps, which have been the subject of many documentaries in recent years.
According to Rainn Wilson on his name change, “I’m hoping this name change brings attention to this growing… er, melting issue. We need world leaders at COP27 to take notice and take action.” He also added that his name change can also be enacted for those interested in bringing more awareness, as a website called ArcticRiskName.org offers a “name changer” option.
Anyone can go on the website and change their name, which also asks those who change their name to showcase it on their social media platforms as well. Rainn Wilson used this tool to change his name to Rainnfall Heat Wave Extreme Winter Wilson, which is something that everyone can do right now, though we are not sure if everyone wants to have a name that long. We are not sure if he also legally changed his name, but the man certainly seems quite dedicated to combating climate change.
Climate change has certainly been a hot-button issue in politics but has seemingly slowed down in recent years, which is likely why Rainn Wilson is doing what he can to raise awareness of a real-world issue. We would imagine he is also going to be in attendance for the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP27, which is running from November 6th to 18th. The conference is bringing in 90 heads of state and representatives from 190 countries to speak about what can be done about climate change.
Rainn Wilson most recently appeared in the Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, though he is most known for his portrayal of Dwight Schrute in The Office. We would imagine that he is going to be adding more time to fight climate change, though he has four movies currently in the works. He did change his name, and though we are not sure how official it is, it is still a drastic change that is getting everyone’s attention.
We are not sure how long Rainn Wilson will be referred to as Rainnfall Heat Wave Extreme Winter Wilson, but we would imagine he is in this fight for the long haul.
