If the last name sounds familiar, it should. Mor Shapiro is the wife of controversial and outspoken media personality and political commentator Ben Shapiro, but thankfully, she is more than just that. Mor Shapiro is also a well-respected doctor who, after practicing for years in California, now has her practice in South Florida where the Shapiros have relocated.

MOR SHAPIRO HAS DUAL CITIZENSHIP

Mor Shapiro was born Mor Toledano in Herzliya, Israel to a family with Moroccan Jewish ancestry. For nearly 12 years, Mor and her family remained in Israel before they all relocated to the United States, moving to Sacramento, California when Mor was 12.

She spent her middle school and high school years in Sacramento before being accepted to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where she studied psychobiology.

While at UCLA, Mor joined her medical school’s acapella group, even though Mor steadfastly maintains that she is far from being a decent singer. During her stay at UCLA, she moved on from psychobiology when she was accepted at the school’s David Geffen School of Medicine.

Because she was born and raised for 12 years in Israel, then relocated and became a citizen of the United States, Mor has dual citizenship.

SHE MET BEN SHAPIRO AT UCLA

While Mor Shapiro was attending UCLA, she was introduced to her future husband Ben by his sister Abigail, the classically trained opera singer and social media influencer, who goes by the moniker “Classically Abby”. After only three months of dating, Ben Shapiro asked Mor for her hand in marriage, which she gladly accepted.

The couple married in 2008 when Ben was 24 and Mor was 20. They had their wedding ceremony in Acre, Isreal, with Ben’s father reading a special poem for the Shapiro’s. The wedding followed traditional Jewish rules, as both are extremely serious about their faith.

Mor Shapiro is devoutly religious, having never dated a non-Jewish man. Being a strict Orthodox Jew, her desire growing up was to marry a man of the same Jewish faith, preferably an Orthodox Jew and she found that with Ben. While living in Los Angeles, Mor Shapiro was also a Sunday school teacher, teaching Hebrew and Judaica at the University of Synagogue.

As the married couple began to grow into a team, Ben Shapiro started to make more and more noise with his outspokenness concerning anything and everything political. Ben, always the sharp one, had skipped two grades in school (third and ninth) which allowed him to graduate high school at the age of 16.

When he was 17, Ben started writing a nationally syndicated column and by the time he was 21 years old, he had already written and published two books.

By the time Ben and Mor Shapiro were married four years, Ben had become the editor-at-large of Breitbart News. Four years later saw Mor Shapiro’s husband resign from the position for what he says was the lack of support for one of the news site’s reporters. By this time, Ben was making more and more noise with his political outspokenness.

When Ben and Mor Shapiro hit their 10-year anniversary, Ben took to Newsweek to explain the 10 lessons he has learned over their 10 years of marriage. One of the first things Ben spoke about was how young they were when they married and how much they, and their lives, have changed in those 10 years. Some of the other highlights of Ben’s marriage lessons learned are as follows:

Shared Values – This should go without saying. Building a marriage based on the values you both share is key. It is the bond that keeps things together.

Root for Each Other – Another key component in a marriage is being your partner’s biggest cheerleader. Mor Shapiro has been firmly behind Ben’s career as they share the same beliefs. So, when Ben offers his many opinions, Mor is right behind him. Conversely, Ben is all about Mor’s career, often praising his wife’s accomplishments as a doctor and mother.

Plan Time for Each Other – Because, as many of us are all too aware, kids will change every aspect of one’s life. This doesn’t mean it is a change for the worse, it is just changing. Ben and Mor Shapiro have three children and as we all know, making time for each other can be quite difficult. So, have a plan for each other and make sure you see it through.

Important Conversations – Wouldn’t it be nice to know just how an important conversation is going to go? According to Ben, he and Mor Shapiro had some issues early on in their marriage. Mor would come to him with a problem and immediately, Ben would try to solve her issue.

What Ben saw was a wife who became extremely annoyed because she wasn’t looking for him to solve the problem, she just wanted his emotional sympathy. Their working solution was, as the conversations started, for Ben to ask Mor if she was looking for solutions or support.

Ben had plenty more to say about Mor and their marriage, but it was abundantly clear that the couple went through the growing pains that many married couples face. But their love, faith, and their support for one another have won out. Let’s find out about Ben and Mor Shapiro’s children and see how that has changed their lives.

MOR SHAPIRO HAS THREE CHILDREN

As we mentioned earlier, Mor Shapiro is the mother of three children. Their first child, Leeya Eliana was born in 2014. They also have a son who was born in 2016, and their second daughter was born in 2020.

The reason we know Mor Shapiro’s first daughter’s name is because of the major health issues she endured as a baby. In 2015, when Leeya was only one year old, she was diagnosed with an atrial septal defect (ASD). While not immediately life-threatening, ASD is known to shorten lifespan.

The Shapiros found out early about Leeya’s ASD and in turn opted to have open-heart surgery to correct it. ASD is a birth defect that causes a hole in the atria, the heart’s upper chambers. Thankfully, the surgery was a success and Leeya is growing up living a healthy life.

MOR SHAPIRO IS NOT ON SOCIAL MEDIA

While her husband Ben is always out front and center, Mor Shapiro has chosen to remain in the background. She is not fond of the spotlight, but there also may be another reason why she stays in the background. Ben’s outspokenness has not only caused a ton of controversy, but it has also brought him some unwanted attention in the form of death threats.

Ben made this point perfectly clear when he announced the birth of their third child on Instagram, telling followers, “I don’t post pics of my family to social media because of the nature of my work, but I just couldn’t help sharing the news. So excited for this new chapter and for the new addition to my family!” You can see the full announcement below.

Love and faith are what Mor Shapiro and her husband Ben have. It has taken them from a very young married couple and helped them survive all the slings and arrows and death threats that Ben has seen and heard. But the two remain in each other’s corner, not only strengthening their bond but the bond of their entire family.
