Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is on the way and is going to continue building out the biggest franchise out there. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has always been great about building to bigger and bigger stories with conflicts that run throughout whole phases of movies and series. It’s a testament to their storytelling and vision that the studio, under Kevin Feige, is thinking years and years ahead, setting pieces in place that will ultimately come to a head in grand fashion.
They showed as much with the Infinity Stone timeline and now they are gearing up to do it again, this time around the Multiverse. We got a sense of where all of this is headed at Comic-Con when Marvel announced some of its Phase 6 plans including the penultimate movie in that timeline, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
From what we know already about where this is all headed, this is shaping up to be quite the movie, with some pieces already put into place around this particular character and who could be tasked with stopping him. Let’s take a look at everything we know about Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and what’s to come here in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
KANG THE CONQUEROR IS A SCIENTIST FROM THE FUTURE WHO DISCOVERED THE MULTIVERSE

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we met Kang the Conqueror for the first time at the end of Loki Season 1 when He Who Remains was revealed to be Kang, the man who had taken the Multiverse under control and formulated everything into one, sacred, timeline. From what we learn of him in Loki, Kang is a 31st-century scientist who discovered that the Multiverse was a real thing to somewhat control and he and some of his variants ended up in a war to dominate all of the timelines.
This version of Kang ultimately was the victor and established the Time Variance Authority to keep all of the timelines in check. This, for the most part, follows along with the comic book version of Kang the Conqueror when it comes to background and timeline.
What’s not mentioned here, but what is almost surely to come in this phase of Marvel movies, likely culminating in his story in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is that Kang developed time travel technology thanks to the work of his (many greats) grandfather Reed Richards and also from the work of Doctor Doom.
And in the comics, Kang used this technology to go back and rule different ages thanks to his intelligence, smarts, cunning, and just general ruthlessness. There are different variations here, but in general, Kang is a formidable foe who’s been able to skirt time and space and use it to his own advantage.
While technically human, his technological prowess and genius have allowed him to take over whole timelines.
JONATHAN MAJORS WILL PLAY KANG AGAIN IN ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA

Jonathan Majors played the character and will continue to do so throughout Phase 6 of the MCU. Even from the single episode, we saw in Loki it’s pretty clear that he is up to the task here. Majors was excellent; stoic, and calm, almost put off by the idea that Loki or Sylvia thought they had any chance against him. But that also wasn’t really the point.
He understood things far greater than they about the state of the universes and specifically the Multiverse. That’s why he asked them to take over the timeline. His calm smile and approach was almost endearing if you knew it didn’t hide some super-level power and smarts.
Before we see him in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, Majors will appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Because we know that this is going to be another Multiverse-al and Quantum Realm jaunt, we might not see the same version of Kang.
When Sylvia killed him at the end of Loki it sent the timeline spreading in all different directions and now those variants of Kang are back, likely ready to wage war against each other once again.
THE AVENGERS: THE KANG DYNASTY PLOT IS UNDER WRAPS

It’s way too early to know this obviously, though it does stand to reason that based on what Jonathan Majors’ Kang said in Loki and what we know from the comics as well, this Phase will be all about the Multiverse war that’s building. It means the character’s machinations could come to a head.
And because Avengers: The Kang Dynasty leads into Avengers: Secret Wars, there’s a chance that the former movie features a pretty epic Multiverse battle. That’s because Secret Wars is based on the premise that the Multiverse has essentially collapsed on itself with too many incursions wiping mostly everything out.
That leaves just some different factions on Battleworld under the auspice of Doctor Doom. Again, this is just taking things from the most recent version of the comic book edition, but it makes a lot of sense considering how Marvel is structuring things here.
DOCTOR DOOM COULD BE IN AVENGERS: THE KANG DYNASTY

Well, we know that at least Jonathan Majors will be there. That much seems for certain. After that, well, who knows. But I do think we can make some logical guesses even if we don’t know the actors and actresses yet.
For starters, a guess would be that Avengers: The Kang Dynasty acts much in the way that Avengers: Infinity War did in that we will see nearly the entirety of the (then) current MCU taking part before maybe there’s a Multiverse incident that pares things down a bit before the events of Avengers: Secret Wars. Again, that’s just a guess, but there is some clue in the source material that it could be the case.
Additionally, because the Kang character is tied directly to the Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom, those characters will likely play a major part in the story. We don’t know who will be in the roles right now though Marvel did announce that Fantastic Four will begin Phase 6. So it will be settled well in advance of that.
AVENGERS: THE KANG DYNASTY WILL RELEASE ON MAY 2, 2025
Though we are still waiting on a lot of information here, we do at least know Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will hit theaters. That’s going to be May 2, 2025. Avengers: Secret Wars won’t be too far behind with a release date of November 7, 2025. So were are about three years away with the timeline now building towards these massive events.
