Falling Skies Season Two Posters

TNT is starting to push the two hour premiere of the second season of its alien invasion drama Falling Skies. A recent trailer is now joined by a collection of promotional posters.

The first season ended with Tom Mason (Noah Wylie) about to board an alien craft, which, lets be honest, is one hell of a cliffhanger. If you watched the extended trailer for season two, you know at least part of his ultimate fate. Much in unclear, including the direction season two of Falling Skies will take, but the posters hint at things to come.

The 2nd Mass, guns in hand and ready for trouble. The tagline would seem to indicate that there are continuing hostilities on the horizon. Expect fighting.

A young woman strapped into a harness with a mysterious growth on her face may indicate an evolving alien threat. Be on the look out for new problems for the humans to deal with.
Why is Mason hanging out with the Mech, gun at his side, in the middle of a torrential downpour? Did something happen to him on that ship? Did the invaders get into his mind in some way? Expect some questions about loyalties and allegiances.

Even though these posters seem to indicate escalating conflict in the Falling Skies universe, showrunner Remi Aubuchon indicates that things are going in other directions. He says, “I think as we get to know our enemy better, we’re going to see it’s not as black and white as we thought it was… There’s much more to it than we ever expected there would be and I think that will be surprising.”

Aubuchon’s comments sound promising. A show can only survive as a simple “us versus them” dichotomy for so long. There has to be more going on to keep people interested, especially since the first season of Falling Skies garnered mixed, at best, reviews from viewers and critics alike.

“Worlds Apart,” the two hour season premiere episode of Falling Skies, airs Sunday June 17th on TNT.
