Heavy is the head that wears the crown. That’s how the saying goes, and the latest photograph from upcoming sci-fi actioner Riddick certainly seems to support that claim.

Okay, maybe there’s not a crown, but that throne is pretty damn epic. The Iron Throne from Game of Thrones is the gold standard among regal cinematic furniture, but this one is up there. I mean, come on, this seat is shaped like a big, scary dude, and there’s a big, scary dude sitting on it, looking depressed.

Most of the images we’ve seen from Riddick have been delivered directly from star/producer Vin Diesel, and this one is no exception. The beefy actor posted the pic on his Facebook page with the message, “It has been 9 years since the Chronicles of Riddick was released… all along I knew I would eventually have to return to that dark place, the mind of an Alpha Furyan…”

Notorious space outlaw Riddick (Diesel)—you can tell how badass he is because he doesn’t require a first name—is stranded on the surface of a desolate, sun-scorched planet. When the creatures that inhabit the planet take exception to his presence, he becomes involved in yet another in a long line of life-and-death battles. His only out is to alert the bounty hunters that dog him of his presence. When they arrive, he encounters a new breed of mercenary, as well as one familiar face that is after something more personal.

Riddick is directed by David Twohy, and costars Karl Urban, Katee Sackhoff, Bokeem Woodbine, Jordi Molla, Dave Bautista, Conrad Pla, Raoul Trujillo, Nolan Funk, and Keri Hilson. Riddick hits theaters on September 6, 2013.
