Darth Vader Gets Lit Up In These Star Wars/Tron Mashups

Mash-ups are all the rage. It makes a certain amount of sense. After all, how better for science fiction fans who have a deep devotion to more than one property to express their undying love for multiple franchises. Who says you can’t love both Star Trek and Star Wars equally and purely?

Case in point, take this pair of images, from Café Madruga, that take a few little snippets from George Lucas’ Star Wars saga, and combine it just a dash of neon from the world of Tron.

Aesthetically, Darth Vader, perhaps the galaxy’s most famous deadbeat dad, fits in with the visual themes of Tron. With his shiny, monochromatic suit, couldn’t you just see him zipping around the mainframe at the controls of a light cycle? Add a few glow-in-the-dark pipes and highlights to his costume, and you’ve got something. Looking at this image, it feels like a pretty natural match. I especially like way the Imperial logo on Vader’s chest glows in the blue light. The cool color is a good match for the character and temperament.

And when you take into account Vader’s lightsaber, like in this image, that’s another hit, right there. Again, the preferred weapon of the Jedi knight could easily be an invention straight out of any member of the Tron family. It is pretty easy to picture Jeff Bridges or Bruce Boxleitner (hell, maybe even Olivia Wilde or Garret Hedlund) wielding a lightsaber in an attempt to fend off a vicious program or two.
