Xbox Game Pass Is Offering Some Huge Titles For The Summer

The summer break is finally here, and young gamers took up their Xbox controllers with glee, looking to revisit all the previous and new releases they might’ve missed to studying. Luckily, if they truly were studying, they also missed the few rocky months Xbox Game Pass has had due to the loss of some of the major games from the service and failings to secure additional titles that would bridge the newly formed gap. Well, that’s about to change.
Microsoft just added a few more gaming titles to the Xbox Game Pass, as reported by Kotaku, in addition to promising another 50 games that will come to Xbox over the next year — many of which will be featured on Game Pass. Some of these games already dropped on Game Pass, like the recently released TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge and Total War: Three Kingdoms, with more prominent titles, like 2018’s Far Cry 5, scheduled to drop in the following days.
For the time being, the aforementioned TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, which currently has no DLC plans, and 2020’s Omori are already live on Xbox Game Pass and are worth checking out. The former is already designated as the best beat-‘em-up video game of the year, a spiritual sequel to Turtles in Time, and a pretty fantastic homage to modernized genre classics of the arcade era. Omori, on the other hand, is an interesting turn-based RPG that dropped on Xbox consoles and PC but has finally made its way to Xbox Game Pass.
The Shadowrun Trilogy and Total War: Three Kingdoms dropped on Xbox Game Pass two days ago and are equally worth checking out. Shadowrun is a tactical RPG that has gained a cult following over the last 30 years, with its unique mixture of cyberpunk and fantasy element. Total War: Three Kingdoms is the critically-acclaimed turn-based strategy with real-time tactics, which was released in 2019 for PC. For lovers of sports and action-adventure battle royale games, today’s offering includes FIFA 22 and Naraka: Bladepoint.
FIFA doesn’t actually need an introduction but requires EA Play — EA’s subscription-based gaming service — which is included in the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which is Game Pass’ Super Saiyan form (Dragon Ball reference). Those with regular Xbox Game Pass subscriptions would still need to subscribe to EA Play to be able to play FIFA. Naraka: Bladepoint allows 60 gamers to battle one another and is the brainchild of NetEase Games, a Chinese company that operates on Blizzard’s World of Warcraft, StarCraft 2, and Overwatch titles for the Chinese gaming market.
With everything said, the introduction of new games means that some titles are departing Xbox Game Pass, like FIFA 20, Jurassic World Evolution, Last Stop, and MotoGP 20 — all of which are departing Game Pass on June 30, so grab them while you can. The upcoming games certainly aren’t negligible; sure, Far Cry 5 might be the worst modern Far Cry game, but the franchise has used the same tried and tested formula for years, so the gap between good and bad Far Cry games isn’t particularly wide. It’s actually marginally narrow.
