Tom Cruise Ridiculed For Ruining A TV Show Set
The cast of Call the Midwife is upset that Tom Cruise has been flying his helicopter close to their set in Britain, ruining some shots.
2022 has been a banner year for action star Tom Cruise, who flew into theaters alongside Miles Teller at the start of the summer to bring the world Top Gun: Maverick, the highly anticipated sequel to the 1986 classic film. But even movie stars tend to get called out for their behavior on and off the set, which seems to be happening to Cruise while he’s been in Britain lately. According to a report by the New York Post, Tom Cruise has been ruining takes on the set of the BBC television series Call the Midwife, as star Jenny Agutter commented recently that the star “keeps on ruining our filming by landing his helicopter right outside where we’re shooting.”
Speaking candidly in an interview about Tom Cruise disrupting their shooting of Call the Midwife in Surrey, England, Jenny Agutter seems none too pleased with the movie star’s decisions to fly around their set. Cruise is most likely filming Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two in the area, and has long been known to have a pilot’s license to fly helicopters and other aircraft. An accomplished flyer, Tom Cruise tends to take his own planes and helicopters to film sets, and appears to be ruining the filming schedule of Call the Midwife by making noise above their set.
Call the Midwife is currently filming its 12th season of the long-running drama series that highlights a group of midwives in the 1950s and 1960s who work in the East End of London. Starring an ensemble cast that has often changed over the course of many seasons since the series debuted in 2012, Call the Midwife has had renewed attention thrown its way after the series began streaming old episodes on Netflix. With the 12th season underway, Tom Cruise might be in hostile territory with some if he continues to fly his helicopter in range of an active television set, although his representatives don’t appear to have commented on his behavior yet.
Prior to disrupting Call the Midwife, Tom Cruise has been well-known for his work in films, particularly performing many of his own stunts to make his action projects look more realistic. Heaving been engrossed in the Mission: Impossible franchise for over two decades, Cruise was once popular for his acting talents in acclaimed dramas like Jerry Maguire and Born on the Fourth of July. Since Mission: Impossible took off with audiences, Cruise has largely focused his career on action thrillers in recent years.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two is slated to become the eighth and supposedly final film of the Mission: Impossible franchise. A sequel to the upcoming 2023 entry, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, these latest films of the franchise will feature Cruise as infamous spy Ethan Hunt alongside Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, and Vanessa Kirby, as all of the actors are reprising their roles from previous iterations. While Cruise’s focus as an actor has been to finish out the Mission: Impossible franchise as best as he can, the financial box office success of Top Gun: Maverick might propel the actor to a possible Academy Award nomination, as well as another sequel to the Top Gun series of films.
