Stranger Things Kept Being Changed Because Of Winona Ryder

Winona Ryder is one of the most seasoned actors on Stranger Things, and because of that, she kept getting the script changed for one reason.

Winona Ryder is arguably one of the best parts of Stranger Things. She consistently must fight to save her children and those around her, and the scenes when her character Joyce Byers is involved are some of the most emotional moments in any television show. However, the actress also held a special job on the set of the show, as she became a fact-checker that was working with Duffer Brothers in changing the script when something didn’t add up. Stranger Things is set in the 1980s, and Ryder would consult the creators about what was right or wrong in that era. According to co-star David Harbour, “She’d tell them, ‘This song actually came out in ’85, and you have it in ’83.'”

While we understand that most shows, including Stranger Things, mess with the truth a bit, as they are fictional, it must be great to have a 1980s icon like Winona Ryder on the set of the film. That way they can stay as true to that era as possible. Harbour added, “She knew all of these minute, tiny details they didn’t even know, and they had to change things in the script based on that…It’s just kind of epic how wild her mind is and how it goes to all these different corners.” Consistency and continuity do matter to a lot of people, and if something is off, they will certainly let the creators know. Plus, knowing when a 1980s song was first introduced may sound like a minute detail not worth mentioning, but if the boys are growing in the 1980s, then the music released should be accurate.

Stranger Things has become a cultural phenomenon, and it now sits in the #2 spot of the most successful shows in Netflix history. Although it did not surpass Squid Game, it did skyrocket past many other shows that had held their places in the top five. We might see another surge of numbers when Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 2 comes out tomorrow. Hopefully, we don’t have to see Joyce (Winona Ryder) be killed off, as she has been fantastic in the series. However, her character is stuck squarely in Russia with Hooper (David Harbour) and Maury (Brett Gilman). There is no telling which of them is going to make it out alive, especially since they already ran into a Demogorgon.

The Duffer Brothers have been mentioning that there will be some big character deaths in the finale, and the ninth episode is said to be 2 hours and 30 minutes long. That is more than enough time to see more of the Hawkins kids give their life up to save each other. However, we hope that everyone’s favorite characters aren’t the ones to succumb to Vecna’s magic. Stranger Things will have a fifth and final season, but not before the fourth takes away some of our favorite characters. Please, just let Winona Ryder survive.

Stranger Things Season 4 Vol. 2 officially arrives tomorrow on Netflix. Fans will get to see the epic battle take place which will see Eleven and her friends take on Vecna, who has already brutally killed many in Hawkins. We cannot wait to see how this season is going to play out, as it has already been quite exciting and emotional. Winona Ryder might have played the part of a fact-checker for the final time. Hopefully, she hasn’t.
