Stephen King has done it again with a new prequel movie, Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, set for streaming release on Paramount+ on October 6. Sci-fi fans can look forward to seeing their beloved David Duchovny of The X-Files fame in the cast lineup, and Jackson White of Tell Me Lies starring as the lead character, Jud Crandall.

Unsurprisingly, the new sci-fi prequel will be rated R for horror violence, gore, and language. You may want to watch this movie in the absence of any small children. Following in the footsteps of the original Pet Sematary released in 1989, viewers can expect to encounter plenty of creepy moments in the new film.

The prequel film Pet Sematary: Bloodlines will stream on Paramount+ October 6.

The Pet Sematary Series has long been a popular staple among sci-fi and horror lovers. After the reboot of the original 1989 film was released by Paramount in 2019, the company was granted a continuation of its rights following the super success of the movie. ComicBook.com reports that Pet Sematary (2019) brought in more than $113 million, and the production of the film was completed on a $21 million budget.

Stephen King’s Pet Sematary: Bloodlines will give audiences a deeper look into the world created by the first movie. Set in 1969, audiences will see a younger Jud Crandall discovering some dark family ties keeping him forever connected to the town of Ludlow, Maine. Fans will witness the uncovering of a local cemetery where the dead can find life once again, but what of the consequences?

Though the movie won’t be released in theaters, the October 6 Paramount+ release will give viewers a chance to enjoy the film in the comfort of their own homes.

Some of the returning talent to the project include Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Jeff Buhler as writer and producer of the new film. The duo worked together on the reboot of the original Pet Sematary film in 2019. Stephen King himself also had a hand in the writing of Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, so audiences can expect the new movie to have a familiar feel to it.
