Thousands of Disney employees are suffering major losses this week, but they might not be the only ones who are affected. Temuera Morrison, who plays Boba Fett in the recent Star Wars TV shows, admits that there are going to be cutbacks to the franchise, according to The Direct. We don’t expect the multi-billion-dollar franchise to shut everything down overnight, but fans shouldn’t be surprised if they see budget cuts and production plans being canceled.

One of the most notable cutbacks we have already seen is Temuera Morrison’s absence from the Star Wars series The Mandalorian Season 3. Fans were highly anticipating a glimpse of Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett in the third season but were disappointed when he failed to make an appearance alongside Pedro Pascal and Baby Yoda. It is speculated that Boba Fett didn’t appear in a cameo since Disney is trying to save money, and just a few seconds of Temuera Morrison on screen could cost the company big bucks.

In addition to this cutback, two Star Wars movies (Rogue Squadron and an untitled film from Kevin Feige) are no longer in development, and Willow, the Disney+ TV series, has not been renewed for a second season 2 despite the interest from viewers. And for non-Star Wars content, Disney+ has canceled National Treasure: Edge of History after just one season. The show followed a young female adventurer on the hunt for mysteries and discovering lost truths, similar to Nic Cage in the film franchise.

It’s no secret that Disney is having some serious financial struggles that are causing them to eliminate thousands of employees. Just last year alone they lost over $300 million on Chris Evans’ Lightyear and the animated Strange World after they bombed at the box office. This is in addition to Disney’s drop in stocks, with their shares declining 0.6 percent to only $100.35.

CEO Bob Iger has been slashing jobs left and right ever since he returned to the company back in November, all in an effort to try and save money and restructure their workforce. The biggest portion of layoffs will unfortunately be to Disney’s entertainment division which may cause cutbacks in Star Wars, Marvel, and beyond.

Despite not making an appearance in season 3 of The Mandalorian, Temuera Morrison is keeping himself busy with plenty of other roles in major films. The Boba Fett actor will be featured as Tom Curry in both upcoming movies The Flash (coming to theaters this June) and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (hopefully coming this December). Temuera Morrison will also star in Ka Whawhai Tonu, Sons of Summer, and the TV mini-series Chief of War, all of which are in post-production.

Even with Disney’s cutbacks, the Star Wars brand has still released The Mandalorian and The Bad Batch earlier this year, and it is set to release Ahsoka, Visions Season 2, and Skeleton Crew later this year. It seems like there are infinite possibilities for Star Wars spinoffs, as long as Disney doesn’t run out of funds.
