Loki Season 2 promo art shows Owen Wilson in an old-fashioned astronaut suit.
Loki Season 2 is on the way, and new promotional art hints at intriguing changes for the Marvel follow-up. Covered Geekly reported on the new art, which was released with merchandise for the show on Amazon France. The art includes a familiar look at Tom Hiddleston as Loki, but shows Owen Wilson’s Mobius in a bulky, orange TVA spacesuit.
The new costume for Owen Wilson in Loki season 2 is reminiscent of an early astronaut suit, branded across the chest by the Time Variance Authority. The suit and the illustration style of the promotional art are in keeping with the first season’s retrofuturism aesthetic. The suit’s function in the story is a mystery.
The TVA’s Hunter B-15, played by Wunmi Mosaku, is represented in the illustration, along with newcomers Ke Huy Quan and Eugene Cordero. Those actors’ roles in Loki season 2 have not yet been disclosed.
The illustration of the key characters in Loki Season 2 is just one of several that have been released. Another piece shows a white TVA space suit from head to toe, including a helmet with a v-shaped visor. The art does not reveal who is inside the suit, but strange, orange streaks similar to the Star Trek beaming effect swirl around it.
Other Loki Season 2 art includes a look at the return of Miss Minutes and several propaganda pieces that demonstrate a divide in the TVA. Some messaging, such as “The TVA has to change and it has to start now” and Loki’s Comic-Con trailer line “This is bigger than the TVA, this is about everything,” indicate that Loki and Mobius may be at the center of a TVA revolution.
Other propaganda messages presented by the Time Variance Authority Narrative Commission emphasize conformity and obedience. One poster for the TVA’s Coercive Conversation Center touts the tagline “Don’t speak unless spoken to…”
The new Loki Season 2 promo pieces are sure to stir a lot of speculation as fans await a full trailer and release date announcement for the show. Marvel is set to release its next Disney+ series, Secret Invasion, on June 21, 2023. Loki Season 2 is suspected of debuting in the fall, but no official word has come from Marvel.
It is also unclear whether or not the Writers Guild of America strike will affect Marvel’s release schedule. Secret Invasion and Loki Season 2 have long been written, but writers on TV shows are often involved throughout the post-production process. Marvel has yet to comment on the absence of writers from the late stages of either show.
Loki Season 2 will follow its lauded 2021 entry. The show follows a variant of Loki that escaped New York in 2012 during Avengers: Endgame. His escape created a branch in the timeline, which was severed by the Time Variance Authority, a bureaucratic organization dedicated to preserving the prime timeline.
Loki teams up with TVA agent Mobius to hunt another Loki variant which sets off a chain reaction that branches the prime timeline into a multiverse, paving the way for Jonathan Majors universe-hopping Kang the Conqueror.
Loki and Mobius were last seen tracking down Kang in the post-credit scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, a pursuit that will likely be a driving force in Season 2. The new art featuring Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, and the rest of the cast sets up intriguing possibilities for the new season. Its arrival is merely a matter of time.
