There’s a lot of new Star Wars content getting made these days, from the three newly-announced films to shows like Ashoka and Skeleton Crew. Not all of the cast and crew for upcoming releases have been announced, meaning there’s a chance that just about anyone could make an appearance in the much-beloved galaxy far, far away. One possibility is Underworld star Kate Beckinsale, whose possible appearance as a Jedi has been pictured below.

With the upcoming Star Wars films reportedly spanning the universe’s massive timeline from the High Republic to Daisy Ridley‘s post-sequel universe, there’s no shortage of places where a Jedi Kate Beckinsale could fit in. She could be one of the many Jedi who existed in the bygone era before the prequel films or an apprentice just learning to use her abilities under the inexperienced guidance of Rey.

While Kate Beckinsale has not been announced as a possible cast member, she already has one of the most obscure connections to the Star Wars universe you could possibly imagine. She hasn’t appeared in any shows, cartoons, or films, but she has appeared in a sketch on Jimmy Kimmel Live called “Movie: The Movie,” which is a bizarre mismatch of almost every common movie trope and famous actor. Her role in the sketch reveals that she had a one-night stand with Chewbacca.

Kate Beckinsale recently posted a clip of that Jimmy Kimmel sketch on Instagram, and her previous Instagram history makes it clear that the actress would enjoy playing a part in an upcoming Star Wars production. In 2018, she jokingly announced that she’ll be appearing in a Star Wars movie, appearing as a “motherly Ewok who feels it’s ok to wear a crop top.” The photo shows her alongside Billy Dee Williams, who famously played Lando Calrissian in The Empire Strikes BackReturn of the Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker.

Kate Beckinsale already has enough geek cred to justify her appearance in an upcoming Star Wars production. Along with her role in the supernatural, action-paced Underworld series, she has also appeared in Van Helsing and the 2012 Total Recall remake. On top of that, she has voiced Queen Ayrenn in The Elder Scrolls Online.

Most recently, Kate Beckinsale has appeared in the 2023 comedy Fool’s Paradise and the 2022 Drama Prisoner’s Daughter. She also starred in the Paramount+ TV series Guilty Party and the Amazon Original film Jolt. Currently, Beckinsale is currently working on the film Canary Black, a spy thriller about a CIA agent who is blackmailed into betraying her own country.

Since the cast of many of the upcoming Star Wars shows, and films are still up in the air, fans of Kate Beckinsale can hold out hope that she will one day take up a lightsaber onscreen. Whether it’s in a prequel, sequel, or one of the projects that fill in the blanks between films, her acting prowess and screen presence would make it a delight to see her putting her force powers to use.
