Slimer From Ghostbusters Gets His Own Energy Drink

If you grew up enjoying The Real Ghostbusters cartoon, then chances are that you spent a fair amount of time slurping down Ecto Cooler, a particular Hi-C flavor that somehow managed to outlast the initial wave of Ghostbusters mania. Slimer was the mascot for that particular drink, and while it’s possible to whip up your own Ecto Cooler at home, it now seems there is a much healthier way to slam down a drink that Slimer would approve of. EHPLabs will be releasing some Ghostbusters energy drinks, including a Slimer drink named after everyone’s favorite green spud.

The Slimer Drink

While we are most particularly interested in the Slimer drink, it sounds like EHPLabs will be releasing two other Ghostbusters energy drinks. The Slimer drink is going to have a tropical lime flavor, and the so-called Proton Plasma is going to have a tangerine flavor. For longtime fans of the franchise, it may seem a tad ironic that the Proton Plasma’s tangerine flavor will likely taste more like Hi-C’s Ecto Cooler (which was a blend of orange fruit concentrate and tangerine) than the Slimer drink from the same company.

The Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man

Slimer is getting most of the glory here, but it sounds like EHPLabs has a third Ghostbusters energy drink named after one of the franchise’s more iconic bad guys…sort of. There will be a Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man-flavored drink, but it’s technically not named after the hulking monster at the end of the first film. Instead, this flavor is named after the tinier versions of this monster that we saw terrorizing Paul Rudd and generally running amok in Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

Available In Multiple Products

Incidentally, it’s more accurate to refer to these new Ghostbusters offerings as flavors rather than energy drinks. Rather than being limited to a single kind of drink, the “Slimer and Proton Plasma flavors will exist across EHPlabs products,” meaning that you can get them as flavors in Oxyshred (a product designed to burn fat), Oxyshred Ultra Energy RTD (described as “a functional metabolic energy drink”), and more. As for the Stay-Puft flavor, it will be a variant of the brand’s Blessed Vegan Plant Protein.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire Releases In 2024

We’ll be the first to admit that Ghostbusters is an odd brand for energy drinks if only because the original characters aren’t exactly health icons: they spent most of the first film smoking cigarettes, for example, and Bill Murray’s Peter Venkman makes a prominent joke about the group being fat in the sequel (“suck in the guys, guys, we’re the Ghostbusters”). However, it’s as clear as ice (so to speak) that the real point of this sponsorship is to keep public interest in the franchise high so that Sony earns a solid box office from the release of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire on March 29, 2024.

Ghostbusters Through The Years

Then again, it’s an open secret that the original fans of those first films and the iconic Real Ghostbusters cartoon aren’t getting any younger. Even as Sony’s younger cast of Ghostbusters is designed to appeal to a younger generation of fans, we old-timers who have waistlines reminiscent of the returning Ghostbusters in Afterlife could benefit from the right energy drinks. In the meantime, we’ll sit back and enjoy Sony fully embracing the wisdom of Peter Venkman when it comes to marketing this intellectual property: “no job is too big, no fee is too big.”
