Gal Gadot has been seen in a couple of movies worth your viewing pleasure if you are having Wonder Woman withdrawals. The Hercule Poirot continuation Death on the Nile and Netflix’s polarizing and costly Red Notice have helped with the jonesin’ need to see the Israeli superstar one more time. Now, to the delight of that gaggle of fans who fit that description, Gadot has taken to Instagram to tease her appearance in the Tom Harper-directed action movie Heart of Stone.

First we see Gal Gadot walking through the set and tinkering with her hair. The second image of the carousel is a director’s chair. And rounding out the troika is a stoic image of a fearless star who has transformed into a high-level spy, arms crossed and ready to rumble. The last photo is fitting because Harper is no stranger to the genre and has every intention to, as Deadline reported last January, “direct a film that aspires to hatch a female-centric franchise with the action and global scale of films like Mission: Impossible and 007.”

Harper’s savvy with these films should get every Gal Gadot fan giddy with anticipation. Some of his films have included Mission: Impossible: Fallout, Annihilation, the popular sci-fi action Netflix film, The Old Guard, and the upcoming summer blockbuster, Top Gun: Maverick. And now, the actress who plays the third part of the DC Comics’ on-screen trinity will “mark the beginning of a new female-centric espionage franchise” as Rachel Stone.

As Gal Gadot poses for the camera, look at her face. That determined visage is part of the act, but even Hollywood’s elite can look like a fish out of water. She sold many people on what a heroine could look like and still have the wherewithal to squash any parademon. And now, she will convince anyone that a woman could have filled the role of 007 with style and potency.

If there is any doubt of the action and boldness Gal Gadot can handle, let’s not forget that she is still teaming up again with Patty Jenkins, which was confirmed at the 2021 DC FanDome. When that news was provided, you could have flown a kite in front of the collective exhale from fans. Last year, there was a much-ballyhooed rumor that Jenkins could have been replaced as director. According to Toby Emmerich, chairman of Warner Bros. Pictures Group, “As fans around the world continue to embrace Diana Prince, driving the strong opening weekend performance of Wonder Woman 1984, we are excited to be able to continue her story with our real-life Wonder Women — Gal and Patty — who will return to conclude the long-planned theatrical trilogy.”

While she has been in a disappointing movie, that doesn’t mean Gal Gadot was disappointing. Give her the right script, and a good director and Gadot will shine. Now, add Jamie Dornan to the Heart of Stone mix, and she will make us sit still in “wonder.” (See what we did there?) According to Deadline, Netflix has not set a date for Heart of Stone. We do know filming began on March 7 at Shepperton Studios in the UK, so a Summer 2023 national release seems likely.
