Jacob Elordi will be starring in a Guillermo del Toro adaptation of Frankenstein for Netflix. And just to be perfectly clear, he won’t be playing the titular character, Frankenstein, but rather Frankenstein’s monster. This will be an interesting change of pace for the 26-year-old Euphoria actor, as the drama we’ll witness won’t take place in a high school hallway, but rather inside of Dr. Victor Frankenstein’s laboratory.

Jacob Elordi Has Been Cast As Frankenstein’s Monster

Though the role of Frankenstein’s monster was originally reserved for Andrew Garfield, scheduling conflicts presently have him working on other projects. Starring alongside Jacob Elordi will be Oscar Isaac, who will play Dr. Frankenstein. Sources speculate that Mia Goth will play the bride of Frankenstein, also known as the Monster’s mate.

Guillermo del Toro’s Vision

As for the rest of the details about the upcoming film, we’re left guessing about what stylistic choices Guillermo del Toro will be taking. Though it goes without question that he’ll be adapting the classic 1818 Mary Shelly novel of the same name, it remains to be seen whether the film will be set in modern times or if it will be a period piece. Either way, Jacob Elordi’s presence in the film will be a far cry from his portrayal of Elvis Presley that we witnessed in 2023’s Priscilla.

Jacob Elordi Got His Start On Netflix

It seems like Jacob Elordi has become a Netflix film mainstay given his history with the streaming platform. Starting his film career in 2018 with his portrayal of Noah Flynn in the Kissing Booth film series, he started out in the romantic-comedy genre. To date, there have been three Kissing Booth movies, and rumors of a fourth installment are circulating, but nothing has been confirmed at this point in time.

Jacob Elordi In Euphoria

But it didn’t take long for Jacob Elordi to show his dramatic chops when he took on the role of Nate Jacobs in HBO’s Euphoria, a role he took on in 2019 and will revisit when the series picks up for its third season in 2025.

On the cinematic front, he most recently starred in Amazon MGM Studio’s Saltburn, which has been nominated for a wide spread of accolades in the upcoming 2024 awards season. Future roles include On Swift Horses, and Oh, Canada, which are both currently in the post-production phases and presently have no set release dates.

More Netflix Stars Joining Frankenstein

In addition to Jacob Elordi, a number of other stars known for their roles on Netflix will be joining the ranks. Felix Kammerer, who most recently starred in the Oscar-winning All Quiet on the Western Front, is cast in a role that’s currently undisclosed. Lars Mikkelsen, who portrayed Stregobor in Netflix’s The Witcher will also be making an appearance in Frankenstein. Other Netflix alum include David Bradley, whose voice-acting talent was used to portray Gepetto, Pinocchio’s father, in Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio in 2022. Christian Convery, who has made a name for himself starring in Netflix’s Sweet Tooth will also be a part of the ensemble cast led by Jacob Elordi.
