Surprise Thriller Hit Announces Two Sequels

It’s always a risk to set a movie in primarily one location. Just ask Tommy Wiseau for the making of his cult classic, The Room. But, sometimes, it pays off in a big way. Such is the case for Lionsgate’s 2022 thriller flick, Fall as The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the studio is planning to move forward with both a Fall 2 and Fall 3.

Fall Was A Surprise Hit Last Year, And Capstone Studios Has Greenlit 2 Sequels

According to the outlet, the original film was such a money-making hit, that Capstone Studios has given the go-ahead for the creative team to fire all cannons at Fall 2 and Fall 3. This moves the survival thriller into franchise territory, and, should the next two installments be successful, we’ll likely see a fourth movie down the line. What’s even better for those who loved the original feature is that the director and co-writer, Scott Mann will be back in the saddle.

Mann has been tapped to co-write and direct Fall 2 and will produce both new films. As of right now, word surrounding who will helm and pen Fall 3 is up in the air. With the SAG-AFTRA strike still underway, no casting has been announced at this time but the sequel has plans to get cameras rolling in June 2024.

Fall Is A Psychological Thriller 2,000 Feet Off The Ground

In the first film, audiences meet Becky (Grace Caroline Currey) and Hunter (Virginia Gardner), two friends grappling with the loss of Becky’s husband by doing what they do best – seeking out the most adrenaline-pumping adventure possible. The pair travel to the desert where they climb a 2,000-foot rotting TV tower only to find themselves stuck at the top with no help in sight. The original film was filled with psychological twists and turns as the women prayed for safety and we’d expect nothing less from Fall 2 and Fall 3.

The Walking Dead’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan Stars In Fall

Fall also starred the likes of Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Mason Gooding. While Gooding played the role of Becky’s late husband, there’s still a chance he could appear via flashbacks in both Fall 3 and Fall 4. With Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s background in projects including Supernatural and The Walking Dead, he would also be a terrific asset to toss back into the anxiety-inducing world of Fall.

The Studio Confirmed That Some Actors Will Reprise Their Roles For The Sequels

The announcement for the second and third installments revealed that there would, in fact, be characters set to reprise their roles from the first film, so it is likely that we’ll see Grace Caroline Currey’s return. Exactly how Fall 2 and Fall 3 plan to tie in the new with the old is up in the air as no plot details have been released at this time.

Fall Brought In A Shocking $20 Million At The Box Office

Not for the faint of heart, Fall brought in a surprising amount of viewers despite being up against A24’s horror thriller, Bodies Bodies Bodies. Projected to nab $1-2 million during its opening weekend, it would ultimately take home a whopping $2.5 million during its first few days in theaters alone.

By the time the film left cinemas around the world, it received more than $20 million at the global box office up against its $3 million budget making it a massive financial success and lining it up for Fall 2 and Fall 3.
