Amber Heard has been making news all over the place of late with a rather surprising announcement recently around her personal life. And it looks like we could be headed towards a major announcement coming soon in her professional life as well. There have been rumors flying around that her role in the DC Extended Universe could be expanding as well. The latest word coming out Geekosity Mag is that the studio is targeting a possible solo movie and franchise for Heard and her Queen Mera character. Based on the trajectory of the studio and Heard herself, this would make total sense for a future plan regarding the character.

Again, this Geekosity piece is merely a rumor, but it wouldn’t be a surprise at all for Amber Heard to grab a solo feature sometime in the near future. It’s been totally clear that DC has wanted to bring her more into the fold when it comes to their larger stories and the next logical endpoint is starring in her own movie. Within this latest rumor, there was a comparison between when Heard could bring to DC and what Brie Larson has done within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Along those lines, while DC is greatly expanding their offerings, there is still more of a focus on some of the male characters than the females. Sure, they have Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, but with The Flash, Black Adam, Shazam! and, of course, Aquaman being the next feature films up in the pipeline, there is still a lack of females headliners on that front. Amber Heard is one person within the universe that can help to change that.

We saw that in Zack Snyder’s Justice League there was a renewed effort to expand her character and offer more screen time compared to the original version. Amber Heard appeared in a few more scenes within the primary narrative and was even still around with Ben Affleck and company during the Knightmare sequence near the end of the movie. Though she, for some reason, had a different accent, there was a conspicuous move to include her more in the film.

And then, there have been rumors that Amber Heard will see an expanded storyline when the sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom finally hits the big screen. They’ve just begun production for that movie and though actual plot details have been kept under wraps, the rumors speculate that she will feature prominently in this next film. If that’s the case, and it stands to reason it is, then a solo movie could be announced in short order.

On the personal life front, Amber Heard recently announced a major life event when it came out that she had become a mother a few months ago. The news was a surprise for most and ushered in a new phase for her life. She shared some of the details in an Instagram post about her new life and what it has meant for her.

Though there had been an effort among some of the keyboard warriors to have Amber Heard removed from her role in the DC Extended Universe after her highly-publicized divorce and court proceedings involving ex-husband Johnny Depp, that doesn’t look to be the case. If anything, she’s only becoming further entrenched in the DC Universe and a solo movie could be coming soon.
