Grammy winner Doja Cat took to Instagram to reveal a new tattoo. The singer’s back is now home to a giant bat skeleton. The 27-year-old also shared the meaning behind the ink with a highlighted passage. “Bats often represent death in the sense of letting go of the old and bringing in the new. They are symbols of transition, of initiation, and the beginning of a new beginning.”

Doja Cat’s bat skeleton comes by way of celebrity tattoo artist Mr. K of Bang Bang Tattoo Studio in Manhattan. The 42-year-old artist has previously inked David Beckham, Matt Damon, Rita Ora, Michael J. Fox, Justin Bieber, Liam Hemsworth, and Sophie Turner. He shared a snap of the singer’s feet on his Instagram stories.

The singer, known for her unique blend of pop, R&B, and hip-hop music, has a growing collection of tattoos that she started in 2023. Doja Cat revealed her first ink at the 2023 Grammy Awards. She showed off a spider on her forearm and a mischievous creature holding a pitchfork on her upper arm, which immediately caught the attention of fans.

Since then, she has added to her collection. Doja Cat has a black-ink-shaded cow skull on her inner left wrist and a tattoo of Licenti, a mythological figure, on her forearm. However, not all her tattoos have been well-received by fans. Some accused her of promoting Satanism. The singer responded to the criticism, saying each image holds a personal meaning for her and that their fear is “not her problem.”

Doja Cat’s tattoos are just one aspect of her artistic expression. Her unique blend of music and playful persona has made her one of the most talked-about artists in contemporary pop music. She recently made headlines when she attended the 2023 Met Gala dressed as Karl Lagerfeld’s beloved kitten, Choupette.

The award-winning rapper made a stunning entrance at the event, donning a silver hooded gown designed by Oscar de la Renta. However, it wasn’t just her dress that turned heads. The rapper also wore feline facial prosthetics and sharpened talons on her nails, complete with cat ears, adding an extra edge to her unique outfit.

During her interview with La La Anthony on Vogue’s red carpet live stream, Doja Cat punctuated her sentences with a few playful “meows.” Jared Leto was also dressed in the iconic Choupette, with white fuzzy paws and a massive cat with striking blue eyes. The Morbius star swapped the cat costume for a monochromatic outfit with a studded cape later in the evening.

Born Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, Doja Cat’s career began in 2014 when she started sharing her music on SoundCloud. Although her debut EP, “Purrr!” was released in 2014, it wasn’t until her single “Mooo!” four years later that she gained significant popularity. She signed a record deal with RCA Records in 2019 and released her second album, “Hot Pink,” which included her hit single “Say So.”

The song became a viral sensation on TikTok, and its success helped Doja Cat gain widespread recognition. In addition to her music career, the singer has appeared in film and television. She has been a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Saturday Night Live and made her acting debut in the 2020 film Trolls World Tour.
