If this keeps up, by the time Guillermo del Toro’s mechs-versus-monsters science fiction flick Pacific Rim finally hits theaters on July 12th, we’re going to be on a first-name basis with all of the film’s giant mechanoids. The latest poster dropped by Warner Bros. and Legendary pictures introduces us to a Russian mech — or “Jaeger” — named Cherno Alpha.

This bad boy looks ready to kick the living crap out of some monsters, and if you’re one of the few who isn’t already crazy pumped for Pacific Rim, these character posters should at least pique your interest. You can’t look at these images of the Jaegers and not get at least a little bit excited. The potential for mayhem is through the roof.

When giant monsters called Kaiju crawl out of the depths of the ocean, the human race in for one hell of a fight. They create the Jaegers in order to combat this new menace—a menace that occasionally drops a massive deuce on the ground, in addition to destroying entire cities—but even with the playing field leveled like this, the endless war costs millions of lives and almost all of the resources the Earth has to offer. Just when things appear the most hopeless, two unlikely heroes emerge. A washed-up pilot (Charlie Hunnam, Sons of Anarchy) and an untested rookie (Rinko Kikuchi, Norwegian Wood) step up to command an out-of-date Jaeger, and may be the last hope for human survival.

Pacific Rim also stars Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman, and Clifton Collins Jr.
