Space Force Performing Secret Launch And It Could Be Incredibly Deadly

By Jessica Goudreault | Updated

The United States military is busy this week working on a secret launch that they’re trying to keep on the down low. There have been several mysterious warnings coming from the Space Force base in Cape Canaveral (Florida), leading some to believe that they are going to launch a long-range hypersonic missile, says The Byte. This is supposedly a test launch that the United States is running to try and keep up with its top competitors, China and Russia.

An upcoming Space Force launch from Cape Canaveral comes with a warning for planes and boats to avoid a corridor of the Atlantic Ocean.

When comparing the upcoming flight path with planned missions from SpaceX, United Launch Alliance, and NASA, they don’t match up with any of their paths. This has led researchers to believe that the United States military is testing a weapon. According to the navigational warnings, the hypersonic missile will be launched over the Atlantic Ocean, hopefully avoiding any boats or planes in its path.

If researchers are correct, the military will launch its first ground-based hypersonic missile from the Space Force station. The weapon, known as the Long-Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW), can reach over 1,700 miles away and can hide from other military’s radar. It can also fly at a speed greater than five times the speed of sound (Mach 5), which is still not as fast as Tom Cruise in Top Gun: Maverick.

The navigational warnings look very similar to a long-range hypersonic missile test that the United States Army and Navy had planned to conduct earlier this year. However, the launch was scrubbed due to a technical issue with the battery, so this could be the long-awaited test.

This upcoming launch looks like it will be the first of many land-based missile tests from the Space Force station.

The impending launch from the Space Force military base is likely the United States military trying to catch up to Russia and China, two countries that already have plenty of experience with long-range hypersonic missiles. Both countries are at an advantage over the United States if they have hypersonic weapons because these missiles can strike targets that are hundreds or thousands of miles away in just a few minutes. While most people probably don’t want to use hypersonic missiles in combat, it’s best to always be prepared.

While it is good to be prepared, some people are concerned that the United States military is simply creating and testing these missiles to keep up with their competition. What is most important is understanding how and why these weapons could be used and ensuring that we are doing all that we can to prevent having to use them in the first place.

The director of the Navy’s strategic systems programs previously announced that they are working towards the first Atlantic hypersonic flight test corridor, so we should buckle up and prepare for more missile testing.

So, if you’re near Cape Canaveral or traveling over the Atlantic Ocean, keep your eye out for an insanely fast missile that could whizz past.
