Mark Hamill Voicing The Joker For Multiversus?
A new datamined video for Multiversus might prove that Mark Hamill is voicing the Joker for the video game.
One of the best versions of Joker, the one from Batman: The Animated Series voiced by the legendary Mark Hamill, might make its way into MultiVersus, Warner Bros.’s crossover fighting game. Unfortunately, the news wasn’t officially revealed by WB or Player First Games; instead, Joker voiceovers were datamined from the game, revealing that the iconic villain sounds very similar to Hamill’s version of the character from the aforementioned animated series.
As Kotaku reports, dataminer Laisul, who previously leaked Rick from Adult Swim’s Rick & Morty as Multiversus’ latest fighter, shared his findings after going through the game’s files. According to his tweet, the Joker’s audio lines sound very similar to Mark Hamill’s portrayal of the character. The lines are in the context of the Multiversus’ fighting style and mostly refer to the game’s tag team structure with opposing sides being color-coded differently.
Joker’s appearance in the game isn’t actually surprising since previous datamines and leaks revealed him as one of the potential characters joining the Multiversus universe, alongside other candidates, like Samurai Jack, Ben 10, and LeBron James — who actually joined the game in July. Other leaks revealed the aforementioned maniacal genius scientist’s appearance, as well as Gizmo — all of which were later confirmed and had joined the bestselling fighting game of the year. It even threatened to depose Elden Ring as 2022’s overall bestseller.
However, it’s worth pointing out that there’s no official confirmation on whether the Joker will join the Multiversus roster, nor if Mark Hamill will actually voice the character. Gaming developers implement various addition to the game at one point or the other and make them accessible to gamers when they see fit. For example, the early version of Dracthyr, a new playable dragonkin race from World of Warcraft, was added to the game long before the new expansion was announced. It’s pretty much the same case with Joker and Multiversus.
It’s also important to note that these additions sometimes don’t make it to the game’s final cut, and there’s a real chance that they’ll never see a release date if the gaming studio decides to change the narrative and scrap the content, though we are all hoping for Mark Hamill to be the Joker. A perfect example of this is the original version of Shamblers and the scrapped multiplayer component hidden in The Last of Us Part 2‘s game files, as well as leaked datamines pointing towards an Elden Ring DLC content.
Warner Bros.’ Multiversus was announced less than a year ago after a series of previously leaked information as the company’s competitor to Nintendo’s Super Smash Ultimate. The game’s launch roster featured a number of Warner Bros. characters, such as Superman, Batman, Harley Quinn, Bugs Bunny, Arya Stark, Tome and Jerry, and many others. Of course, the game has expanded its roster in the months following its release with the additional Mark Hamill-voiced Joker now being a rumor, and even Gandalf was a candidate for a Multiversus fighter — unfortunately, that didn’t happen.
Warner Bros.’ crossover fighting platformer Multiversus is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the discontinued Xbox One console.
