Netflix Gets Canceled Action Series That Deserves Another Season

Per a recent write-up in Comicbook.com, Warrior has been canceled by Max, but will find a new home on Netflix. The series, heavily inspired by Bruce Lee, has streamed three seasons, totaling 30 episodes at the Warner Discovery-owned streamer, before the recent announcement that the series would not be picked up for another season.

Warrior To Netflix

Now that the episodes are being ported to Netflix, fans are hoping that the streamer will green-light the series for a much anticipated fourth season, wrapping the show up with a satisfying conclusion.

Warrior has been chosen to stream on Netflix as part of a non-exclusive deal, allowing the two services to share distribution rights to the show.

This has been done with several films and television series before, including a host of Warner Brothers-owned content such as Matt Reeves’ The Batman. These non-exclusive streaming packages are often used to distribute properties to a wider audience, serving as a mutually beneficial deal for both studios.

Warrior Season 4

In this case, however, fans are hoping that Warrior‘s pivot to Netflix will serve as a soft launch for a fourth season, depending on how the show performs in the newfound home.

Regardless of whether the show gets saved with an additional episode order, the change will surely bring in several new fans to the program, contributing to the rallying cry for additional seasons.

The possibility of renewal seems especially plausible for Warrior, as the show has already been axed and revived once.

Warrior Like Community?

Much like the sitcom Community, which aired on NBC before being canceled and revived by the now-defunct Yahoo Screen, Warrior was originally produced to air on Cinemax before the network killed the series after two seasons.

In 2021, Max revived Warrior for a third and, for now, final season, meaning Netflix could serve as the third-string streamer to keep the series afloat.

Hopefully, Community serves as a faithful blueprint, as the sitcom’s move to Netflix in 2020 created a massive cultural push largely responsible for creating the upcoming Community movie.

Warrior In February

Warrior is currently set to release on Netflix in February of 2024, with all three seasons expected to drop at once.

The series stars a wide ensemble of international performers, including Andrew Koji, Olivia Cheng, Jason Tobin, Dianne Doan, and many others.

Warrior will serve as one of many exciting projects to appear on Netflix in 2024, particularly within the niche of Asian storytelling and martial arts.

Martial Arts Series

The series centers on a brutal gang war in the Chinatown district of San Francisco. Fresh off the boat Chinese immigrant and martial arts prodigy Ah Sahm signs on to act as a hitman for an organized gang, proving his unparalleled fighting power.

The show was developed for television based on writings from martial arts legend Bruce Lee, and created by The Adam Project writer Jonathan Tropper.

Additional Seasons?

Tropper has remained confident that Warrior will receive additional seasons after porting to Netflix, referring to the hit series as a show that refuses to die.

Obviously, the show holds a great deal of love and support from its cult following, meaning a wider exposure to a larger streaming audience may be exactly the push the show needs.
