With Spider-Man: No Way Home officially in the books and having completely crushed at the box office in an all-time performance, it’s time to officially start thinking about what comes next for our friendly neighborhood wallcrawler. While there are no immediate plans on how things shake out for Tom Holland and company, it does seem like he’s at least thinking about it in the short term. While talking with The Hollywood Reporter on a press tour for the upcoming Uncharted, Holland let on that he wants his character to work with another relative newcomer to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That would be Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock/ Daredevil.

During the interview. Tom Holland was asked about what it was like working with Charlie Cox when they were filming No Way Home. After so many questions about how he’d teamed up in this one with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, it was kind of easy to forget that Cox had made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut early on in this flick. Holland seemed refreshed by the question and had a longer answer about their (short) time on screen together. He said, “Working with Charlie was incredibly exciting. I was a big fan of the Daredevil series, and I think he’s a fantastic actor…It felt like an actors’ workshop while working with people I really look up to…I hope that one day we find a way for Spider-Man and Daredevil to team up again.”

This kind of thing from Tom Holland makes total sense moving forward you would think that these two meet back up on the big screen at some point in the future. The characters have always been tied together in some respects on the comic book pages. Both living in New York City helps with the proximity piece and there is some precedent in certain timelines that the two have actually become good friends. There’s a chance for this kind of pairing to really work and fans of the franchise would likely be all for it.

With the way No Way Home ended, it would likely take a bit of mechanics for the now-forgotten Peter Parker (Tom Holland) to somehow cross his paths with Matt Murdock again in a meaningful way. But there’s a chance this one is pretty easy especially when Peter takes back up the Spider-Man mantle and possibly needs some legal counseling. And it’s likely that they could just run across each other in general superhero-ing stuff.

This is all putting the cart ahead of the horse just a bit though. The future of Spider-Man and Tom Holland in the Marvel Cinematic Universe isn’t totally clear right now. Though it is good to hear Tom Holland talking actively about moving forward with the character. Even that didn’t seem 100% clear not that long ago. No Way Home was the last movie in his current project, and there hasn’t been much in the way of news for what could happen next in the Sony/ Marvel partnership around the character.

In the meantime, before he gets back into the Spider-Man suit, Tom Holland has another potential blockbuster coming soon to the big screen. Uncharted will release in the United States on February 18th and will team him up with Mark Walhberg in an adaptation of the popular video game.
