Back in 2017, a source from People confirmed that Star Wars star Ewan McGregor officially split from his wife of 22 years, Eve Mavrakis. This report comes after news that McGregor was spotted kissing Ahsoka star Mary Elizabeth Winstead at a West London cafe. Winstead split from her husband, Riley Stearns, in May 2017.

Ewan McGregor was spotted kissing Ahsoka‘s Mary Elizabeth Winstead after the announcement that him and his wife of 22 years had split.

While both are major characters in the Star Wars universe whose paths likely won’t cross, Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead previously co-starred together in the third installment of the FX anthology series Fargo. McGregor played a double role as the twins Emmit and Ray Stussy, one of whom is a successful real estate mogul and the other who is a washed-up parole officer. Winstead played the role of Nikki Swango.

Ewan McGregor recently reprised his iconic Star Wars role as the titular role in the Disney+ television miniseries Obi-Wan Kenobi. While McGregor’s performance as the exiled Jedi was as good as ever, the series got middling reviews due to some pacing issues and its effect on the larger canon of the franchise. Still, it was cool seeing McGregor’s Obi-Wan and Hayden Christensen’s Anakin (and Vader) on screen together again.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead is a more recent addition to the franchise, though she’ll be playing a character that has previously been introduced. Winstead is playing the role of the Rebel pilot Hera Syndulla, who was first introduced in animated form in the Star Wars: Rebels series. Winstead will be making her debut as the character in the Disney+ series Ahsoka.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s Hera Syndulla won’t be the only character making the jump from the animated Star Wars: Rebels to live action. Natasha Liu Bordizzo will be playing the Mandalorian rebel Sabine Wren, Eman Esfandi will be playing the lost Jedi Ezra Bridger, and Lars Mikkelson will be the only one reprising his role from the animated series as the villainous Grand Admiral Thrawn. The chaotic droid Chopper will also be making the jump to live action.

While many fans are excited to see these Star Wars characters make the jump to live action, many are also excited for Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka to get a full series. The character was first introduced in The Clone Wars animated series and has been a fan favorite ever since. Dawson played the role in episodes of The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett and is now getting a full show of her own.

Ewan McGregor’s Future With Star Wars

As for Ewan McGregor, there’s no official word yet on if he’ll be returning to the Star Wars universe any time soon. While both he and Hayden Christensen (who is reported to show up in the Ahsoka series) have expressed interest in reprising their roles in another season of Obi-Wan Kenobi, it doesn’t seem like there are plans in place for another season at the moment.

Disney has been cutting back on the amount of Disney+ content it puts out, so there’s a chance that the lukewarm reception to Obi-Wan Kenobi could prevent an additional season from being in the cards.
