The Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer has arrived and with it comes the confirmation of so many reports about returning villains. From Willem Dafoe as the Green Goblin to Jamie Foxx as Electro, the gang is all here to make Peter Parker’s life utterly miserable. Included with these notable rogues are some other familiar foes like The Lizard from The Amazing Spider-Man and even Sandman from Spider-Man 3. It looks like this is going to be one wild party.

But don’t take our word for it. Check out the incredible cavalcade of criminals coming back for this newest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe right below. The Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer awaits and it won’t disappoint anyone looking for comic book blockbuster madness.

It looks like the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer has revealed more than some have bargained for. In addition to confirming all these villains, it looks like Dr. Otto Octavius a.k.a. Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina) will be playing a slightly larger role in the story than we thought. The trailer shows him seeming to be bested by Spider-Man and taken to some underground lair. Could he end up becoming something of an ally to this universe’s Peter Parker?

There are some other thought-provoking shots in the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer that have us leaning in and scratching our chins. During the bridge fight that we’ve seen in other marketing, it looks like something starts happening to Doctor Octopus’ arms. We see some red plates start forming on one of the arms. Could this be some kind of defensive tech that Peter deploys during their confrontation? Or is being in a different universe affecting these villains in different ways? The plot is undoubtedly thickening!

But that isn’t the only new look we see in the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer. Jamie Foxx is unquestionably back as Electro, but he is looking a whole lot different than the blue-skinned baddie we saw in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Instead, it looks like the filmmakers decided to try and replicate his classic mask from the comic books, but they did it with actual electricity instead of some kind of fabric. It is going to be interesting to see Foxx revisit the character with this whole new look.

However, there is one major mystery that this new Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer is not answering: the long-rumored inclusion of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as their respective version of the web-slinging superhero. It would not be a huge surprise to find out that their characters are present in some of the footage we see here, but that they have been digitally removed so the surprise can still be intact. At this point, it feels like Hollywood’s worst-kept secret that the two actors will show up in some capacity. But it looks like the marketing is going to continue to play that angle close to the chest. We will find out all the secrets that Spider-Man: No Way Home has to offer when it releases exclusively in movie theaters on December 17.
