Taika Waititi’s upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder may have finally wrapped up the principal photography. They are now moving onto reshoots and capturing minor footage before the Marvel movie enters a lengthy pre-production process, which will deliver the highly anticipated final product. But instead of our usual Stan Lee cameo, which is no longer a part of Marvel Cinematic Universe due to Lee’s passing, we might see someone else make a cameo appearance. Reportedly, Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds is keen on making a cameo appearance.

According to We Got This Covered, Ryan Reynolds is keen on making a Deadpool cameo appearance happen during the reshoots – the same ones that gave us the glimpse of Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher. However, if the cameo ever happens, it probably wouldn’t amount to much more than a Deadpool-style humoristic nod to the multiverse, introduced by season one of Loki, after it was briefly mentioned in Sony’s Spider-Man: Far From Home. A post-credit stinger scene could also be in the card, but it will probably be multiverse-oriented as well.

Regardless, this isn’t Ryan Reynolds’ first Marvel Cinematic Universe appearance. His character, everyone’s favorite antihero Deadpool, already made his official debut in a hilarious promotional/reaction video for Ryan Reynolds’ latest flick Free Guy, alongside Korg from Thor: Ragnarok. While promoting his new movie, Ryan Reynolds also subtly hinted at Deadpool’s entrance to the MCU, which might make an increasingly significant impact. The character’s integration into the Marvel Cinematic Universe was one of the biggest questions surrounding the future of the cinematic universe, which might be resolved by giving Reynolds two different cuts of Deadpool 3 – one family-oriented, and the other, well, Deadpool-oriented. In any case, becoming part of the more family-friendly Marvel universe didn’t prevent Reynolds from making a charateristically dark Deadpool-Bambi crossover pitch to Disney.

Regardless of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool cameo appearance, Thor: Love and Thunder is already stacked with the core Thor cast, crew from the Guardians of the Galaxy, Bale’s villain, and Russell Crowe’s Zeus, whose appearance can potentially stir up the MCU. The movie also includes Jeff Goldblum, Melissa McCarthy, Sam Neill, Matt Damon, and Luke Hemsworth. The most notable returns might be Loki, or even Heimdall – whose appearance wasn’t confirmed, but Idris Elba might’ve hinted at it. In the end, the actor was spotted hanging out with Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi and other cast members.

It’s entirely possible we may see a Ryan Reynolds appear in the fourth installment of Thor, given the actor’s ongoing friendship with Taika Waititi. The director is also a massive fan of Deadpool, and he and Reynolds are both set to appear in the upcoming Free Guy, set to release on August 13. Of course, nothing is certain by all means, and this is still in the speculative domain, but the MCU might entertain the idea.

Waititi did bring irreverent humor and a dose of insanity to Thor: Ragnarok, which is a notably different experience than previous Thor movies that are right in the Deadpool’s category. With the sum of all details, Thor: Love and Thunder might be the perfect place for foul-mouthed Wade Wilson to appear and perhaps ridicule Thor’s ‘80s outfit. In the end, if Waititi doesn’t put Deadpool in Thor: Love and Thunder, Ryan Reynolds might reference Taika Waititi, and some other accomplices, in the upcoming Deadpool 3.
