The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s fourth Thor movie, Thor: Love and Thunder, is getting more and more reveals as we’re nearing the movie’s debut date set for May 6th, 2022. Some brand new promo art just landed on Twitter, providing Chris Hemsworth’s fans with a fresh glimpse of the God of Thunder’s new costume design. You can check it out below:

Chris Hemsworth’s Thor is sporting an all-new look in Thor: Love and Thunder, judging by the promo art that surfaced on Twitter. The images are actually t-shirt prints given to the crew members on set during the filming wrap-up, showing animated God of Thunder donning a cutoff red jacket wielding Stormbreaker, with his flowing locks, and sparks in his eyes. Other prints include neon lightning striking through the center of brightly colored hearts, which only contributes to the overall ‘80s glam rock vibe insinuated by the film’s logo.

Thor: Love and Thunder will be Thor’s fourth solo adventure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following a trilogy concluded by 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, making him the only Marvel Cinematic Universe character to receive a fourth installment. While specific segments of the plot are known to the public, the majority of the story still remains a mystery to the fandom. From what we know so far, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor will be accompanied by Natalie Portman’s reprisal of Jane Foster. She gets to wield Thor’s legendary hammer, Mjolnir, which was last seen in the hands of Chris Evans’ Captain America at the end of Avengers: Endgame. The rest of the plot remains unknown, but it seems like a matter of public knowledge that the story will rely heavily on Jason Arron’s acclaimed Mighty Thor comic run, which indeed sees Jane Foster wielding Mjolnir.

We’ll also see Tessa Thompson, the legendary Valkyrie and the Queen of Asgard, return in the fourth installment, with the Dark Knight star Christian Bale as the monstrous villain Gorr, the God Butcher. The film will debut an entirely different Thor from what we’ve previously seen, as his story is the most tragic one within the MCU. But the movie’s director, Taika Waititi, is known for using humor to tackle sad moments within films like Thor: Ragnarok and Jojo Rabbit, so we can expect him to filter Thor’s tragedy through a comedic prism. Other character appearances include but aren’t limited to Guardians of the Galaxy characters, most notably Dave Bautista’s Drax, Karen Gillan’s Nebula, and Pom Klementieff’s Mantis. Chris Hemsworth’s brother, Luke Hemsworth, is set to make a cameo appearance.

Filming for Thor: Love and Thunder officially concluded on June 1st, 2021, with the movie now entering its post-production stage. It was initially scheduled to release this November but got delayed due to the global pandemic, which ensured further delays to a release date that was set for May 6th, 2022. The movie’s worldwide release date and whether it’ll coincide with the US release remains unknown. The same applies to streaming releases, as no release dates have been discussed as of this time.
