If you’re a big fan of the Stargate franchise, now is your chance to get your hands on some rare props from the film and TV show. According to Gateworld.net, there are plenty of awesome memorabilia going up for auction, so make sure to get those wallets ready if you want to add something truly special to your collection. There are various items currently open for bidding, though some of the rarest items won’t go up until next month, so make sure to keep an eye out if you want to snag something of them for yourself.

Stargate may not be as popular as Star Trek or Star Wars, but the sci-fi franchise has an enormous fanbase likely to pay out big for one-of-a-kind memorabilia.

The auction will feature items from both the seminal Stargate film and the Stargate SG-1 series. The auction is being held by Propstore Entertainment Memorabilia and will be from November 9-12, 2023, in London, though online bidding has also opened up. Some of the coolest items to be featured in the auction are Djimon Hounsou’s animatronic Horus helmet, green fatigues worn by  Jack O’Neil and Daniel Jackson, and an original model of a death glider.

No doubt, these items will also fetch some of the highest prices at the Stargate auction, but there is plenty more up for grabs. Some other particularly notable features are alien staff weapons known as Ma’Tok in the production documents, a preliminary sculpture model of the statues that flank Ra’s throne, and the original sketchbook of concept artist Simon Murton. You can bid on all of these props online now if you’re interested.

A Stargate transport glider

The death glider is undoubtedly one of the most impressive items available at the Stargate auction, with the model measuring nearly 7 feet in length from wing tip to wing tip. Of course, the animatronic helmets will undoubtedly also fetch a high price. You’ll have to pony up some cash if you want to be the proud owner of these collectibles, but you can’t beat having memorabilia straight from the set of the film and the TV series.

The most recent entry to the franchise was in 2018 when the prequel web series Stargate Origins was released, which gave fans one season of ten-minute episodes.

The Stargate franchise began with Roland Emmerich’s 1994 film that ended up having an incredibly dedicated fanbase on top of the $200 million it earned at the box office. The film’s success then spawned numerous spin-offs, not the least of which is the beloved Stargate SG-1 series that ran from 1997 to 2011. The military sci-fi franchise primarily focused on humans discovering the titular gates, which are a mysterious technology that allow instantaneous travel throughout the universe.

Fans have been clamoring for more from the franchise, but there has been a lot of hemming and hawing as to the possibility of another TV series. In 2022, it was reported that Amazon Studios and MGM were hearing pitches for a new series after Amazon acquired the rights, with The Expanse TV series creators Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby on the short list of possible showrunners.

We’ll just have to wait and see if this Stargate series ever comes to fruition. In the meantime, make sure to check out the auction. Along with ther Stargate franchise props, there’s cool stuff from other franchises like Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones, and more.
