Although Netflix has been canceling shows plenty lately, the streaming platform has also been upping its true-crime content. Some of the most intriguing documentaries and shows follow the true-crime genre and have brought in millions of hours of viewing. That is certainly going to be the case for the newest docuseries that is being worked on, which revolves around the robbery and disappearance of D.B. Cooper. This new series will follow and attempt to unravel one of the most infamous stories that have ever been told. The new series is called D.B. Cooper: Where Are You?! and will have four parts. You can see the trailer below:

The story of D.B. Cooper is one that has baffled investigators for decades, and now is being picked apart by Netflix. Cooper was an unnamed man who hijacked a Northwest Airlines plane back in 1971 and escaped with $200,000 in cash. He had bought the ticket under the alias of Dan Cooper, but the name had been messed up by news outlets and renamed to D.B. Cooper. Once on the plane, the man showed a bomb device to a flight attendant and made a list of demands. He was to be given $200,000, allow the plane to refuel in Seattle, and was to be given four parachutes. His demands were met, and the plane got off the ground again, headed to somewhere in the Washington area. Cooper leaped out to an uncertain fate. Part of the fortune had been discovered in the Columbia River around 1980, but no one has ever found the rest of the fortune or the body of Cooper.

Many believed that Cooper had likely died somewhere in the thick forest of Washington, and his body possibly consumed by wildlife, along with the money. When part of the money had washed up on the riverbanks of the Columbia River, it sparked more investigation, though nothing fruitful has ever come when finding Cooper. This new Netflix documentary is likely going to cover all the details of one of the world’s most famous mysteries.

D.B. Cooper: Where Are You?! is being produced by Fulwell 73 Productions, which is oddly the production company that has only handled reality television shows like The Kardashians on Hulu and The Late Late Show with James Corden. Marina Zenovich is set to direct the docuseries. This new Netflix true-crime deep dive is said to go through the 50 years of research and investigation that revolves around one of the most miraculous disappearances of the 20th century. The robbery enacted by D.B. Cooper remains to be the only occurrence of air piracy that has never been solved. There have been multiple suspects through the years, but none of those suspects have ever panned out as D.B. Cooper.

This new Netflix series is set to debut on July 13th, and fans can get sucked into the vortex of this conspiracy soon. There have been plenty of stories that have revolved around D.B. Cooper’s disappearance, including the comedy Without a Paddle. Maybe Netflix has a better shot at coming up with some concrete answers as to where Cooper has disappeared to.
