Alice in Borderland, the Netflix sci-fi series based on the popular Japanese manga by Haro Aso, has been renewed for a third season. The news was revealed by the streamer’s Vice President of APAC content, Kim Minyoung, during the APOS conference in Indonesia, Variety reports. The series has been nothing short of a global phenomenon since its debut.

Netflix has renewed Alice in Borderland for a third season.

Alice in Borderland on Netflix is set in modern-day Tokyo and revolves around Ryohei Arisu and his friends. The story begins when the trio finds themselves bored with their mundane lives and escape reality by playing video games at an arcade. One day, they notice a mysterious fireworks display in the sky and decide to investigate.

Following the display, they suddenly find themselves transported to a deserted and eerily empty Tokyo, which they call the Borderland. There, they discover that their survival depends on participating in deadly games that are controlled by a series of playing cards. Each card represents a different game, and the consequences of losing can be fatal.

The second season shattered records by becoming Netflix Japan’s most-watched title, outperforming even all anime shows.

To return to the real world, they must navigate the challenges of the Borderland, forming alliances, making difficult choices, and confronting their inner demons. As Alice in Borderland progresses, the group encounters other survivors, each with their own secrets. Together, they must unravel the mysteries, rules, and the shadowy organization that seems to control Borderland.
