Netflix Reveals In-Depth Look At Avatar Series Characters

By Douglas Helm | Published

Fans may be a bit wary of the upcoming Netflix live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, but the show keeps looking better and better with each sneak peek.

First Looks At Characters

New images from the series just dropped, and it gives us a good look at some characters that have already been shown in previous previews, along with our first look at the live-action versions of June, Gran Gran, Suki, Yukari, and The Mechanist.

Once again, these previews show that fans at least don’t have to worry about the looks of the characters being inaccurate, as the costuming is definitely top-notch.

June And Jet

The biggest characters introduced in this latest Netflix preview of the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series are June and Jet.

Teen Wolf’s Arden Cho plays June, who is a bounty hunter with a fearsome animal companion that Zuko hires to help track down the Avatar.

Jet, played by Sebastian Amoruso, is the leader of a group of Earth Kingdom refugees known as the Freedom Fighters, whose methods for fighting the Fire Nation may be a bit extreme.

Gran Gran And More

The other minor characters Netflix shows off in these previews are honestly just as exciting since Avatar: The Last Airbender is so good at creating memorable characters.

Casey Camp-Horinket plays Gran Gran, who is a Southern Water Tribe healer and the grandmother of Sokka and Katara. Tamlyn Tomita also shows up in the preview as Yukari, who is the mother of Suki and the mayor of Kyoshi Island.

We also get our first good look at Danny Pudi as The Mechanist, who is a genius inventor from the Earth Kingdom that the Avatar gang meets along their journey.

Netflix also provided some additional photos of the live-action versions they’ve already revealed for Avatar: The Last Airbender, but it’s also good to get more.

In the pictures, we also see Gordon Cormier’s Aang meditating on a rock and Maria Zhang’s Suki standing alongside her mother in full Kyoshi Warrior garb.

All Good Signs

Netflix Avatar

Fans were initially worried about the quality of Netflix’s live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series after original series creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael DiMartino left the show over creative differences.

However, these worries have been alleviated a bit after a fantastic trailer and the continued release of these promising preview images. We’ll find out if the live-action series can capture the magic of the original when it premieres on Netflix on February 22.
