The Marvels

It’s no secret that the MCU has been tumbling through a downward spiral recently. That mixed with the public’s love-to-hate relationship with Brie Larson made it seem like the next upcoming MCU movie didn’t seem to have a chance. Yet, according to Deadline, somehow The Marvels is crushing it on Fandango’s Most Anticipated Fall & Horror Movies survey.

According to a poll conducted by Fandango, The Marvels is the most anticipated movie of the fall.

Fandango, the popular online platform for purchasing movie tickets, released the survey results this morning, revealing Disney’s The Marvels and Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes are the most eagerly awaited films of the season. The films are set to hit theaters on November 10 and 17, respectively.

Surprisingly, neither film has announced plans to move up its release dates now that Dune: Part Two has rescheduled for next year due to the strikes by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA unions. This means that November 4 is wide open without competition, and either Hunger Games or The Marvels could take Dune: Part Two’s place and score a full extra week of Imax ticket sales.

The Marvels again scored a top spot when Fandago asked who movie goer’s most anticipated main character was. Despite many MCU fans loving to hate on Brie Larson, her Marvel character, Carol Danvers, was the number one response.

For its survey, Fandango interviewed 2,000 avid movie-goers and asked which films and actors they’re most excited to see in upcoming fall features. When asked what fall movie they anticipated the most, fans responded wholeheartedly with The Marvels, securing the MCU film with a number one spot on the Top 10 Most Anticipated list. Following what might be the MCU’s next hit was The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes in spot number two, and The Equalizer 3 in third place.

Other movies less anticipated than The Marvels but still garnering enough excitement to get in the top 10 include A Haunting in Venice, Killers of the Flower Moon, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3, The Expendables 4, The Exorcist: Believer, Saw X, and Five Nights At Freddy’s.

The Marvels again scored a top spot when Fandago asked who movie goer’s most anticipated main character was. Despite many MCU fans loving to hate on Brie Larson, her Marvel character, Carol Danvers, was the number one response. Additionally, Samuel L. Jackson’s MCU character, Nick Fury, who will be returning in The Marvels, was the top result to the question of which supporting character is most anticipated.

What To Expect With The Marvels

Writer and director for The Marvels, Nia DaCosta, is doing things a little bit differently for this MCU movie. In a move that many have compared to trying to make a Charlie’s Angels movie within the MCU, The Marvels will have three main female lead characters, not just Carol Danvers. And fans can’t wait.

In addition to Carol Danvers being the most anticipated main character in an upcoming fall feature, Ms. Marvel, played by Iman Vellani, took fourth place, and Monica Rambeau, played by Teyonah Parris, took fifth place. In the second and third spots for the most anticipated main character were Hercule Poirot, played by Kenneth Branagh in A Haunting in Venice, and Robert McCall, played by Denzel Washington in The Equalizer 3.
