New cast members have been announced for Russel Crowe‘s upcoming Land of Bad film. Joining the previously announced Crowe and Liam Hemsworth is the eldest Hemsworth brother Luke Hemsworth. Milo Ventimiglia, Ricky Whittle, Daniel MacPherson, and Chika Ikogwe are also joining the cast list. According to Variety, the cast will be heading to the Gold Coast and South Queensland in Australia to shoot the film later this month.

Land of Bad will star Crowe as an Air Force drone pilot named Reaper. When an operation in the South Philippines goes bad, it’s up to Reaper to rescue the Delta Force team in 48 hours. Amongst the team members are Kinney (Liam Hemsworth), a rookie field air support controller. Captain Sugar (Ventimiglia) and Sargeant Abel (Luke Hemsworth) are part of the Tier One team that is redeployed to recover and capture their man and their asset. The film is directed by William Eugene, who also co-wrote the script with David Frigerio. David Frigerio, Will Eubank, Adam Beasley, Michael Jefferson, R.U. Robot, and Highland Film Group produce with Hoodlum Entertainment executive producing.

Land of Bad should be a big project for Luke Hemsworth, who is fresh off his leading role in the Tyler Atkins film Bosch & Rockit. The film is a drama about a young father going on the run from the law for drug dealing with his surf gang. His young son Rockit is along for the ride and thinks the trip is a magical holiday. The quietly underrated film currently has a 75% from critics and 96% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. Along with Hemsworth, the film starred Rasmus King as Rockit along with Isabel Lucas, Heather Mitchell, Leeanna Walsman, Savannah La Rain, and more.

Overall, Luke Hemsworth had a pretty strong 2022. Along with his indie drama Bosch & Rockit, he had a hilarious cameo as the Asgardian actor who plays Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder alongside Matt Damon’s Asgardian actor that plays Loki. Of course, being Chris Hemsworth’s real-life brother helped him fit the role a little better than Matt Damon, who doesn’t look like Tom Hiddleston even a little bit.

Luke Hemsworth also has a much more substantial role in the latest season of Westworld, once again reprising his role as Ashley Stubbs for the fourth season. While a fifth season of the hit HBO drama isn’t guaranteed, it does seem like a likely prospect. If the fifth season does indeed come to fruition, it’s unclear who will be along for the ride. Without spoiling anything, the fourth season had quite the jaw-dropping finale, so it’s up in the air who will be back when a fifth season comes. Until then, you can check out Luke Hemsworth in the most reason season, which has aired all of its episodes and is now available to stream on HBO Max. Make sure to stay tuned for more news on Land of Bad, as we’re sure to get some more information as they begin filming. There’s no release date for the Aussie-led action thriller yet, but you can likely expect it to come out sometime in 2023.
