In the cinematic jungle dominated by high-budget blockbusters from high-profile franchises, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has swung into the limelight with an impressive marketing launch.

Trailer Gets 100 Million Views

According to Variety, the film’s trailer garnered a whopping 100 million views across various platforms in its first 24 hours, confirming that the sequel to the science-fiction franchise is already a huge success.

It’s not entirely surprising that the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes trailer went viral considering one, that it’s a Disney product and two, that it’s the sequel of an established and acclaimed brand.

However, achieving 100 million views in a single day is an impressive feat for any feature, no matter its background.

Teaser Plus Official Trailer

Kingdom Of The Planet Of the Apes

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ 100 million views came from the combined efforts of a teaser trailer released the day before the official trailer came out, which earned 25 million views within a day, followed by the actual trailer which made up the other two-thirds of the 100 million mark.

Social media engagement played a pivotal role in the success, with 72,000 mentions within the first day, including 11,000 TikTok comments. The trailer also secured a spot in the top 10 trends on the X platform.

Overwhelming Response

Kingdom Of The Planet Of the Apes

The official trailer for Disney and 20th Studios’ latest installment in the iconic Planet of the Apes franchise debuted to a substantial 75 million views within the first day.

Although this figure falls short of recent Disney heavyweights such as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Avatar: The Way of Water, industry insiders suggest that the studio never anticipated Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes to compete directly with Marvel or the sequel to the highest-grossing movie in history.

Asad Ayaz, President of Marketing at The Walt Disney Studios and Disney+, expressed delight over the overwhelming response to the trailer. Ayaz explained how he is glad that the fans share the same eagerness and anticipation for the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes as the studio does.

Fourth Film In The Franchise

Directed by Wes Ball, known for his work on The Maze Runner series, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes marks the franchise’s return after a seven-year hiatus following the conclusion of the Caesar trilogy.

The previous three films, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and War for the Planet of the Apes, collectively grossed over $450 million worldwide, with Dawn of the Planet of the Apes leading the pack with an impressive $710 million.

Quest For Human Technology

Kingdom Of The Planet Of the Apes

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes picks up generations after the events of War, portraying a world where apes have risen to become the dominant species while humans exist in a degenerated, wild state.

The narrative centers on a new ape leader’s quest for secret human technology, leading a younger ape named Noa to embark on an expedition for freedom.

The ensemble cast features Owen Teague, Kevin Durand, Freya Allen, William H. Macy, and Peter Macon.
