Katee Sackhoff is back folks, not that she ever really went away. This time though, it isn’t the big or small screen that Sackhoff is lending her talents to. Now she’s using her celebrity to lend a hand in a worthwhile promotion. Fighting COVID -19 and saving puppies.
It is nice to see when a person with some clout offers themselves up for a worthy cause and Katee Sackhoff has done just that. The Battlestar Galactica alum, who famously played Kara “Starbuck” Thrace for four seasons on the hit show, is teaming up with Stands as they attempt to raise money to help in the fight against the coronavirus while also helping the Humane Society of the United States’ COVID-19 Relief Fund as more and more people are having trouble providing for their pets.
Stands, for those of you who are not aware, is an online merchandising portal but unlike many others, this one has a charitable twist. Stands works with select celebrities and count on their fandom to help raise awareness and funds for a specific cause. Once they have chosen a celebrity or a celebrity offers their help, Stands brings in an artist to collaborate with the celebrity as to what type of art and how it will be displayed. The art could be the artist’s rendering, or it could be something that reflects directly to that specific celebrity. Stands then puts the art on many various pieces of merchandise for sale. With every piece sold, a portion of those proceeds then goes to the charity the celebrity has chosen.
Battlestar Galactica is one of our favorite fantasies, but in real life millions have been affected by the insidious COVID-19 coronavirus. The virus alone has done untold damage, physically and mentally, but the effects of the pandemic are more far-reaching from an economic point of view. Mass shutdowns, lockdowns, and job losses have decimated families. The financial impact goes without saying as unemployment across the United States is at an all-time high. Many individuals and families no longer have the wherewithal to pay their pay bills, provide food, and sadly many are no longer able to provide shelter.
With that as an unfortunate backdrop, not only is Stands and Katee Sackhoff fighting COVID with their merchandise, they are also helping families who can’t afford to provide for their pets. The COVID-19 Relief Fund from the Humane Society is set up for those who can no longer pay for essential supplies or veterinary care for their pets. This relief fund is also set to help with horse rescues and wildlife sanctuaries while also providing relief for other organizations that are struggling with low staffing and resource issues. The cause is most definitely worthy.
So, what exactly is Katee Sackhoff promoting with Stands? How about some nice, cool Battlestar Galactica gear to help fund their cause? How about a “frak”ing facemask? Yes, please. Katee Sackhoff can be seen below posing with her FRAK COVID facemask.
Battlestar Galactica and Katee Sackhoff fans know that “frak” is the show’s famous four-letter “F” word and it was uttered many a time throughout the show’s four seasons. And why frak’in not? But a frak facemask isn’t the only facemask Stands and Sackhoff are promoting. To help the Human Society, Sackhoff and Stands also offer a Paws, Claws, and Outlaws facemask. It is a great design you can see below…
As you can see from Katee Sackhoff’s Instagram photo, not only is she sporting her Frak COVID facemask, but she is also wearing a Frak COVID pin. Not only does the pin carry the Frak COVID wording but it also has the Anders tattoo design on it. Here it is…
