Jon Hamm in Fargo

Yeehaw! Jon Hamm is back in action in a new lineup of images for FX’s anthology series, Fargo. Another star-studded set of episodes surrounding a mysterious crime in the Midwest is about to take the network by storm at 10 p.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2023, with episodes to follow on Hulu for streaming the next day. The fresh batch of photos shows off the Mad Men star’s new digs as the town’s Sheriff – complete with a cowboy hat and perplexed look.

Jon Hamm looks like he was born to play Fargo’s Sheriff Roy in the first image of the upcoming season.

The big names are all here as Deadline’s picture drop features not only Jon Hamm but also Joe Keery, Juno Temple, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Sam Spruell, David Rysdahl, Dave Foley, and Richa Moorjani. Badges, glasses of wine, and crime scenes dot the shots, with the series’ latest season promising to be just as award-winner-worthy as the last few.

Juno Temple in Fargo

In the fifth season of Fargo, which serves as a spin-off universe from the Coen Brothers’ 1996 award-nominated dark comedy-drama, audiences will travel back to 2019 and meet Juno Temple’s Dorothy “Dot” Lyon. A housewife leading a seemingly mundane life, Dot’s world is flipped upside down and with the law hot on her trail, she goes on the run. In hot pursuit of the on-the-run housewife is Jon Hamm’s Sheriff Roy Tilman.

Fargo Season 5 features Jon Hamm’s Sherrif Roy as he’s tracking down a fugitive housewife played by Juno Temple.

A man who views himself as above the law, Jon Hamm’s character has been tracking Dot for a long time, making his search for the escaped woman personal. Aiding his father in the hunt is Gator (Joe Keery), the son of Sheriff Roy and a young man who just can’t seem to get it together. Because he has no faith in his offspring, Sheriff Roy gathers the help of a mysterious drifter known as Ole Much (Sam Spruell) to move his search along.

While Dot’s been in the con game for a while, she’s – to this point – been able to keep her family out of the know but because her husband Wayne (David Rysdahl) is hopelessly devoted to his wife, he can’t help but meddle. That’s where Jennifer Jason Leigh’s Lorraine Lyon comes in as she’s Wayne’s tough-as-nails mother and the CEO of the biggest debt collection agency in the country. Known as the “Queen of Debt,” Jon Hamm’s Sheriff Roy will have his hands full facing off against Dot’s support system, including Lorraine’s primary adviser, Danish Graves (Dave Foley).

Jon Hamm is joining one of the biggest series, as Fargo has gone from a movie to an award-winning anthology show that routinely fatures the best cast on television.

But, Dot’s misdeeds have crossed over state lines from the jurisdiction of Jon Hamm’s Sheriff Roy in North Dakota to that of Police Deputy Indira Olmstead’s (Richa Moorjani) in Minnesota. With Deputy Olmstead, Deputy Witt Farr (Lamorne Morris), and Sheriff Roy and his team on the case, Dot better watch her back.

Since 2014 the stories that spawned from the Coen Brothers’ film have kept audiences coming back for more. Jon Hamm, Joe Keery, and Juno Temple are just the latest to add their names to the impressive roster of talent that the series has seen over the years. The last few seasons have seen critically-celebrated performances from the likes of Billy Bob Thornton, Kiernan Culkin, Kirsten Dunst, Jean Smart, Ted Danson, Ewan McGregor, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Chris Rock, and Jason Schwartzman.
