House Of The Dragon Season 2 Trailer Brings Hateful And Bloody War

The first official season 2 teaser trailer for the hit HBO fantasy series House of the Dragon has finally arrived, with fans preparing to see the bloodiest feud in the dragon-riding Targaryen family yet. Princess Rhaenys Targaryen even glumly warns that “There is no war so hateful to the gods as a war between kin, and no war so bloody as a war between dragons.” In the teaser, fans are treated to a host of vignettes showcasing the upcoming season’s characters, locations, special effects, and more exciting teases of what’s to come.

House of the Dragon season 2 is expected to premiere sometime in the summer of 2024. It will further expand upon George R.R. Martin‘s expansive world first depicted in his hit A Song of Ice and Fire book series.

The season is expected to pick up shortly after the heartbreaking events of the season one finale, which saw Rhaenyra Targaryen mourning the loss of her young child, Lucerys.

The prequel series first aired back in 2022, providing a great deal of history and insight into the fiery origins of House Targaryen’s reign over the seven kingdoms. Luckily, it seems that the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes of the past year have not caused the series to delay out into 2025 or beyond, like so many other properties originally scheduled to air next year.

The teaser footage was first shown to crowds at the CCXP convention in Brazil and features a host of new and returning actors to the House of the Dragon roster. Normal People‘s Clinton Liberty is set to join the cast as Addam of Hull, while Children of Men‘s Jamie Kenna and One Piece‘s Vincent Regan are set to portray Ser Alfred Broome and Ser Rickard Thorne, respectively.

This is set to be the catalyst that kicks off the Dance of the Dragons, a years-long conflict between the incestuous Targaryen family, which ultimately leads to the demise of the family’s powerful bloodline and sphere of influence.

Fans of Martin’s Fire & Blood novel are likely rife with anticipation for the upcoming season, as the arrival of these characters signals a transition into one of the most gripping storylines from the book.

Other House of the Dragon newcomers include Life on the Road‘s Tom Bennett, Warrior‘s Kieran Bew, and The Dark Tower‘s Tom Taylor, who will be portraying the long-awaited Lord of Winterfell Cregan Stark. The season is expected to pick up shortly after the heartbreaking events of the season one finale, which saw Rhaenyra Targaryen mourning the loss of her young child, Lucerys.

The upcoming season will be one of the most brutal and bloody depictions of Westerosi history to be put on screen.

Though the tales of the screen differ slightly from the story told in the 2018 book, this is set to be the catalyst that kicks off the Dance of the Dragons, a years-long conflict between the incestuous Targaryen family, which ultimately leads to the demise of the family’s powerful bloodline and sphere of influence.

The Dance of the Dragons was referenced heavily throughout Game of Thrones, which takes place several generations after the events of the House of the Dragon‘s bloody civil war. Series showrunner Ryan Condal has promised that the upcoming season will be one of the most brutal and bloody depictions of Westerosi history to be put on screen, with many fans bracing for the turmoil and political violence to come.

As the hype for House of the Dragon season 2 continues to build, fans have already taken to the web to begin discussing and breaking down the few brief looks ahead provided by the teaser.
