The wait is over, it’s time to see David Corenswet as Superman – kind of. Taking to Instagram to share his vision of what Corenswet will look like flying through the sky in the suit that once belonged to Henry Cavill, digital artist SPDRMNKYXXIII shared an exciting rendering of how Corenswet could appear in 2025’s Superman: Legacy.

David Corenswet Is The New Superman

While Henry Cavill may no longer be The Last Son of Krypton, the hero’s iconic suit fits perfectly on David Corenswet. Clinging to his completely jacked body, the blues and reds are all there, including some tiny boy shorts and the recognizable cape.

With his hair coiffed oh so perfectly, Corenswet’s profile is almost channeling a younger version of Cavill when he first stepped into the role before he went through all of the ups and downs with Warner Bros. and DC.

No Official Look At Corenswet Suited Up For A While

Of course, this is just an artist’s rendition of what David Corenswet’s Superman could look like, not what he will look like. Nonetheless, with the film’s premiere still over a year away, we love dreaming right along with the ever-talented designers that social media has to offer. While some may still be reeling from Henry Cavill’s job being taken over, this drawing should give hope, even if it is just a mock-up.

Henry Cavill’s DC Exit Shocks The World

As those who have stayed true to the last decade of the DCEU will know, Henry Cavill first zoomed across the skies as Clark Kent aka Superman in Zack Snyder’s 2013 film, Man of Steel. Since then, he appeared in several other films from the DC umbrella under Warner Bros., but when the studio was taken over by James Gunn and Peter Safran at the end of 2022, Cavill, like many other actors of DC-past, lost their jobs. At least for now.

James Gunn’s Vision For Superman: Legacy

Rebooting the entire studio and making it their own, Gunn and Safran have stuck by their stance that Henry Cavill wasn’t fired from being Superman, he simply wasn’t rehired. The duo has a vision for the next wave of films that doesn’t include the same origin story that’s been repeated in previous productions.

Instead, Superman: Legacy, which will be both written and directed by James Gunn, will focus on Clark Kent after he’s received his powers and understands the weight of his responsibilities, while also managing his life as a seemingly ordinary young man.

Out With The Old, In With The New

DC Universe

Like Henry Cavill, other members of last decade’s Justice League have also been put on ice by the new high brass over at DC Studios. 2023 was one box office bust after another for the DCEU with Jason Momoa’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom finally putting the DCEU out of its misery at the tail end of the year.

While Gunn and Safran haven’t fully pulled the plug on working with actors like Jason Momoa and Gal Gadot, it does seem like they have bigger and fresher fish to fry like bringing the franchise back from financial ruin.

Along with swapping Henry Cavill for David Corenswet, Superman: Legacy is also set to star the likes of Rachel Brosnan, Isabela Merced, Nicholas Hoult, Nathan Fillion, and more. As of right now, the feature is on schedule to soar into cinemas on July 11, 2025.Source: Instagram
