The CEO of an Australian television company by the name of Foxtel is in trouble, as he recently made some horrible comments about Emilia Clarke. That CEO is Patrick Delany, who stated, “I was like, ‘What’s this show with the short, dumpy girl walking into the fire?'” Delany was attempting to make a joke about the first time that he had seen Game of Thrones, which was in relation to the country receiving the premiere of House of the Dragon. House of the Dragon is the prequel spinoff series that follows House Targaryen, which is the house that Clarke’s character (Daenerys Targaryen) had come from. Based on these comments, Delany and Foxtel have since apologized.

We are not entirely sure what series he had been watching, but there is nothing short or dumpy about Emilia Clarke. She happens to be quite a beautiful woman. The joke could have been more aimed at the fact that her character does walk into the fire but being short and dumpy has nothing to do with that epic scene. Apparently, while Delany had made the comment about Clarke at the event, there was an audible gasp heard throughout the crowd. The crowd sounded to be just as offended as we are. Clarke happens to be one of the most beloved actresses based on her time on Game of Thrones. Sure, her ending was far from perfect, but she became a superstar because of that series.

A statement was read about Delany’s comments that read, “On behalf of Mr. Delany, the Foxtel Group apologies if his remarks were misunderstood and caused any offense.” So far, Emilia Clarke has not responded to these comments. She has likely had to deal with haters throughout her career and can likely brush them off. However, a CEO of a large TV company should not be insulting one of the people that likely led to that company making a ton of money. In fact, the controversial season finale reportedly brought in the biggest number of overnight subscribers to Foxtel in 2019.

House of the Dragon may have already premiered in Australia, but the United States will have to wait until Sunday, August 21, to see this epic series take place on HBO. Everyone has been quite excited about seeing this extension of Game of Thrones, especially since it is revolved around one of the most controversial families in the lore of the books. Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) is the daughter of Aerys II, who is one of the central figures spoken about in the original series. Aerys was known as the “Mad King” and all but stopped any Targaryen from ever taking the Iron Throne.

House of the Dragon will not feature Emilia Clarke in any manner, but we will get to see what her family was like before the infamous “Mad King” took the Iron Throne. Delany may have spoken brazenly in excitement for the new series, but Clarke is nothing but a beautiful woman who has become beloved all over the world. She went from being one of the biggest fan-favorite characters on Game of Thrones to also appearing in the Star Wars universe in the Solo movie. Now, we just need her to appear in the MCU, which is coincidentally going to happen in Marvel’s Secret Invasion. Let’s see a short and dumpy person do that.
