Fans just came off seeing Dwayne Johnson man the helm in Disney’s Jungle Cruise. Now fans can look forward to seeing Dwayne Johnson suit up as DC’s sometimes villain and other times anti-hero, Black Adam, in the new upcoming feature film. Comic Book just revealed that the new movie would not only mark “The Rock’s” debut in the DC Extended Universe, but it will also mark the first time that a brand new technology will be implemented in order to showcase Black Adam’s abilities on the big screen.

Filming has wrapped on the highly-anticipated potential blockbuster and is reportedly reaching its final stages before completion. But little is still known in the way of the plot or just as to what this new technology is or how it will be used in connection with Dwayne Johnson’s character’s powers. In an interview, last week with Collider all that producer Hiram Garcia was willing to reveal essentially was that the new technology would be used to showcase his unique myriad of abilities, specifically, how they use it to capture Black Adam in flight.

Another piece of interesting plot-related information that Giant Freakin’ Robot recently reported on is that Black Adam will indeed take place in the same universe as the new Shazam! movies. And also that Dwayne Johnson has indeed publicly speculated that it is entirely possible that we could see him fight against Superman. If that is indeed the case, fans might get to see Dwayne Johnson and Henry Cavill face off in an all-out brawl.

While nothing official has been leaked or confirmed beyond the tiny teases that seem to trickle out randomly, back in July Screen Rant did point out that Dwayne Johnson has shared his excitement about the role. He posted a very polished set photo of himself on his official Instagram account. The photo alone received over 2 million likes, which is a good indicator of just how excited fans are to see Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam.

What solidifies Dwayne Johnson’s gratitude and pride even more for having been given the opportunity to portray Black Adam was the video he posted beautifully highlighting his feelings around the upcoming film. He called it a “once in a career event” and touched on just how honored he is to have been a part of the entire process.

While truly detailed information about the film has been few and far between, it has not stopped fans from speculating what they can expect to see from Dwayne Johnson’s portrayal of Black Adam. Giant Freakin’ Robot pointed out that we know Sarah Shahi plays Adrianna Tomaz in the movie and that in the comics. Tomaz eventually becomes Black Adam’s wife, meaning a portion of the plot could potentially center around the development of that particular relationship. However, this is all still just fan-generated speculation. Fans will just have to wait and see whether their hypothesis is correct or not when the movie hits officially hits the big screen next year on July 29, 2022.
