Sony Pictures’ upcoming action movie Bullet Train has been hit with another delay. It was originally supposed to be released on April 8th before being moved to July 15th. Then it was bumped to July 29th and now it’s set to debut in cinemas on August 5th. Although the lasted change is only a week’s difference, it’s still disappointing for fans that have been waiting to see the assassin-centric movie for a while.

However, Deadline says exhibitors got their first look at the Brad Pitt movie’s opening montage at CinemaCon last month. Bullet Train is based on the novel Maria Beetle by Japanese author, Kōtarō Isaka. It was eventually published under the name Bullet Train in English-speaking countries. The screenplay for the movie was developed by Zak Olkewicz, with David Leitch serving as director. Kelly McCormick, David Leitch, and Antoine Fuqua will be producing the project, alongside executive producers Ryosuke Saegusa, Yuma Terada, Brent O’Connor, and Kat Samick.

Bullet Train tells the story of a highly trained assassin named Ladybug (Brad Pitt) who wants to quit the dangerous business. But he is lured back in by his handler Maria Beetle for one last assignment – to collect a briefcase in transit on a bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto. Once onboard, he meets four other assassins and realizes that their primary objectives are connected. That’s when things devolve into complete chaos.

Brad Pitt leads an impressive ensemble cast for Bullet Train. Starring alongside him is Joey King, Andrew Koji, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry, Zazie Beetz, Masi Oka, Michael Shannon, Logan Lerman, Hiroyuki Sanada, Karen Fukuhara, and Bad Bunny. Sandra Bullock is also set to star as Maria Beetle, Ladybug’s contact and handler. Interestingly, she replaced Lady Gaga after the singer had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.

David Leitch, whose impressive list of directing credits includes John Wick and Deadpool 2, spoke about the Brad Pitt vehicle during a recent interview with Empire. Focusing on the action aspect of the story, he said most of the sequences were inspired by Jackie Chan movies. He explained that the fights have been designed to enhance the characters, but they will include a little bit of physical comedy. “We’re here to have fun in this super-contained space,” he told the publication.

Bullet Train may be taking a short break for now. But luckily, Brad Pitt still has a lot of projects in the works that fans can look forward to. The highly anticipated biographical drama Blonde is currently in post-production. Written and directed by Andrew Dominik, the film is based on the 2000 novel of the same name by Joyce Carol Oates. It tells the story of popular American actress Marilyn Monroe, who became a pop culture icon. Pitt serves as one of its producers.

The Lost City star is also set to appear in Babylon. Written and directed by Damien Chazelle, the film is billed as a period drama. Brad Pitt stars alongside Margot Robbie as John Gilbert and Clara Bow, respectively. Tobey Maguire serves as an executive producer and appears as Charlie Chaplin in a supporting role. While the plot is still unknown, the story is rumored to be set in period Hollywood. Paramount Pictures has scheduled the release for December 25th.
