The Best New Shows Coming To Netflix In 2024

By Jeffrey Rapaport | Updated

No one can tell the future, but Netflix looks to be as bingable in 2024 as any year prior. The streaming giant is set to offer a compelling lineup of shows, serving up an excess of drama, suspense, and storytelling excellence. An impressive lists of projects, enlisting major talents both in front of the camera and behind it, await streamers.

Below, we detail some significant new shows to look forward to.

5. Griselda

An incredibly, radically transformed Sofia Vergara stars as the infamous, terrifying Griselda Blanco, the legendary drug lord. This series enlivening Netflix in 2024 will chart Blanco’s violent rise to power as she ravaged Miami in the 70s and 80s, creating one of history’s most profitable cartels.

Known to criminals and law enforcement as “the Godmother,” Blanco’s life story featured hefty portions of brutal, murderous ambition as well as her struggle to reconcile the drug trade with family.

The show should deliver a troubling, albeit deep, dive into the narrative of this notorious figure. It premieres on January 25.

4. Boy Swallows Universe

Welcome to 1980s Brisbane, Australia, where a teenager, Eli Bell, is just trying to live a normal life. But things are tough in this quirky, nostalgia-drenched adaptation of a popular novel. Indeed, soon Eli is ensnared in a dark criminal underbelly (Netflix’s 2024 selection seems especially geared for crime-thriller lovers).

The show benefits from an authentic and diverse cast of characters—a lost father, a mute brother, a fearsome criminal babysitter—all complicating Eli’s struggle to forge a path amidst the chaos. The show will premiere on January 11 and should blend youthful innocence with the brutal realities of crime, making for an engaging project.

3. The Brothers Sun

Fans of crime films (like the recent Netflix hit, Killers of the Flower Moon) will want to sample this dark show electrifying the streaming platform’s roster in 2024. Starring Michelle Yeoh, Sam Song Li, and Justin Chien, the three play members of a family rocked by the assassination of their father, the boss of a prominent Taiwanese triad gang.

With their father/boss absent, brothers Charles and Bruce Sun must step up–and step into a world of crime. Indeed, gang activity constitutes their family legacy, a legacy taking them through the dark innards of the Los Angeles underworld.

2. Fool Me Once

Also enriching Netflix’s 2024 lineup, this recent Harlan Coben adaptation excites bingers with what should indeed be a spine-chilling narrative. The series will star Michelle Keegan and Richard Armitage and relate the tale of Maya Stern, a woman grappling with her husband Joe’s murder. Upon installing a nanny cam (these things always spell disaster in film and TV…) Maya makes a shocking discovery: her supposedly deceased husband is very much alive. Expect a psychological rollercoaster alongside a meditation on grief, disbelief, and the enduring quest for truth. Fool Me Once premiered on January 1, 2024.

1. The Gentlemen

This exciting spin-off of Guy Ritchie’s 2019 film of the same name stars the talented Theo James and ensures a thrilling eight-episode saga.

After inheriting a substantial empire, Eddie Halstead soon discovers its entrenches in the infamous Mickey Pearson’s marijuana empire. Inherited duties—implying the fading glory of Britain’s royal elites, a thematic signature of the original film—clash and entwine with gritty, drug-drenched realities.
