Oh, to be the son of famous parents. Truth be told, it can be a double-edged sword, but for Sasha Hemsworth, for now, it looks like a pretty nice upbringing. True, young Sasha shares the spotlight with his sister and his twin brother, not to mention his fabulously famous parents, Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky, but he seems to be handling the whole thing as well as any 8-year-old could handle it. Let’s take a look.

SASHA HEMSWORTH IS A TWIN

Sasha Hemsworth was born on March 18, 2014, at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California and he was not alone. Sasha’s twin brother, Tristan, made his appearance first, followed closely by Sasha.

Mom, Elsa Pataky, went to her Instagram account shortly after her twins made their appearance to announce their birth, which she did in Spanish, “Ya estan en casa!! Tristan y Sasha llegaron a este mundo el 18 de Marzo justo despues de luna llena. Felicidad completa!!”

Translated, the happy mother said, “They are home! Tristan and Sasha came to this world on [Tuesday,] March 18 just after [the] full moon. Complete happiness.” Happiness for sure, but both parents spoke to PEOPLE prior to the twins’ birth to reveal just how parenthood had changed them.

“It makes it harder and harder to leave and go to work,” Hemsworth said at the time. “Being a father is certainly a task. But the best one that I could ever ask for.”

Pataky then explained how she saw their family life together. “You have to make an effort and try to stay together as much as you can. If we start splitting and doing other things it’s not going to last.”

And they are making it last. Sasha Hemsworth’s famous parents, who continue to work while raising their family, have been married since December 2010, after just meeting in early 2010. The two were set up by their representatives and lived a happy, but busy, life in Los Angeles before they decided to move to Byron Bay in Australia, where Hemsworth hails from.

SASHA HEMSWORTH ALSO HAS AN OLDER SISTER

Before Tristan and Sasha Hemsworth made their first appearance, there was India Rose. Sasha Hemsworth’s older sister is not even two years older, being born on May 11, 2012.

For the most part, Sasha’s parents have kept India Rose away from the spotlight, especially as a young child, but recently she has been seen more often on both Chris and Elsa’s Instagram.

SASHA HEMSWORTH’S FATHER IS CHRIS HEMSWORTH

It is hard to think about the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and not think about The Mighty Thor. Chris Hemsworth first picked up his hammer, Mjölnir, in the 2011 film Thor, with the movie becoming only the fourth feature film in his career. Before the MCU pounded on his door, Hemsworth had been seen briefly in the Star Trek reboot as George Kirk, the underrated thriller A Perfect Getaway, and Ca$h.

Even though Sasha Hemsworth’s father was a relative newcomer to feature films, especially in America, the Australian actor cut his early career teeth on Australian television.

Once Thor hit the movie theaters, all bets were off. Hemsworth followed up his smash Marvel hit the following year with a big 2012 that included the horror film The Cabin in the Woods, Snow White and the Huntsman, the remake of Red Dawn, and of course, The Avengers.

Things just kept getting better for Sasha Hemsworth’s dad in 2013, as he starred in Rush, a biographical story that chronicled the Formula One racing rivalry between James Hunt (Hemsworth) and Niki Lauda (played by Daniel Brühl). 2013 was also the year that Chris Hemsworth returned to the MCU as Thor in Thor: The Dark World.

Since becoming a father, first in 2012 and then again with his twins Tristan and Sasha, Chris Hemsworth has had to toe that line between being a father, while also being an actor in some very big films. Depending on where his movies are filmed, they can take him away from his family for long periods of time, something that he has found difficult.

For this reason, Hemsworth tends to bring his family along with him when he is shooting films far from home, a practice he was fortunate to be able to start well before his twin boys came along.

“Thankfully, my wife has been able to come with me with our daughter, and I still get to see them. It would be tough if we were on different sides of the world.” It is something he has continued to do after his boys were born and it looks like it is something he will continue to do as long as possible. The question is, how long is “as long as possible?”

Sasha Hemsworth’s father was working on his new National Geographic series, Limitless, which focuses on how people try to push back on the aging process and the decline that comes with aging.

For it, Hemsworth underwent some testing to see if there might be anything in his DNA that would suggest issues in his future. The result, says Hemsworth, was “my biggest fear.”

What he discovered was that his DNA was made up of two copies of the APOE4 gene, one from his father and the other from his mother. In studies, this gene has been linked to an increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease.

According to a 2021 National Institutes of Health study, one in four people carry a single copy of the gene, while only 2 to 3 percent of the population have both copies.

But as Hemsworth explained to Vanity Fair, he hasn’t handed in his resignation [from acting], nor has he shared this information with his children, whom he thinks are still too young to understand.

“I don’t think they could have grasped the concept or have the understanding, so no,” Sasha Hemsworth’s dad said. “But again, like you said, it’s not like I’ve been handed my resignation and this is what it is—and it’s up in a few months. It’s not quite that situation, thankfully. One day I’m sure I’ll bring it up. They probably want to test themselves and [find out,] ‘Are you in the category that’s going to be sensitive to this or not?’”

SASHA HEMSWORTH’S MOTHER IS ELSA PATAKY

Sasha Hemsworth’s mother, Elsa Pataky, is famous in her own right. She began her acting career back in 1997 (she is seven years older than her husband Chris), and the bulk of her early career revolved around Spanish television.

For almost the first decade of her career, Pataky was in Spanish television or films, and it wasn’t until 2006 that she got her first American role in the Samuel L. Jackson thriller, Snakes on a Plane.

The next two years saw Pataky go back and forth from Spanish cinema to American and in 2011, she joined the Fast & Furious franchise when she got the role of Elena in Fast Five. Sasha Hemsworth’s mom would reprise that role three more times – Fast & Furious 6, Furious 7, and The Fate of the Furious. She continues to bounce back and forth between Spanish films and American.

SASHA’S UNCLE IS LIAM HEMSWORTH

Not only are Sasha Hemsworth’s parents famous, but so are his uncles. Sasha can call Luke and Liam Hemsworth his uncles, as they are the brothers of Chris Hemsworth.

Uncle Luke’s career includes the role of Stubbs in the sci-fi show Westworld, and cameo roles in two Thor movies, Thor: Ragnarok and Thor: Love and Thunder, amongst other roles. Uncle Liam may be best known for starring in The Hunger Games franchise.

SASHA WAS IN THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER

Since his parents and uncles are doing it, why not Sasha? In fact, why not the entire family? Acting is in the blood, and Sasha and his two siblings are definitely following in their parent’s footsteps, and it is evident by the latest Marvel Thor film, Thor: Love and Thunder, which turned out to be a family affair.

One can’t say that director Taika Waititi doesn’t like to keep his sets fun, especially when he has the entire Hemsworth family, along with some of his own, on set and in the film.

Of course, we know that Chris Hemsworth returned once again to play Thor, but were you also aware that Elsa, India, Tristan, and Sasha all had parts in the film?

For Elsa, she was seen as Korg is narrating Thor’s past romances. Elsa plays a wolf woman, who is sitting on the back of a large wolf kissing Thor. Chris’s brother, Luke, makes his appearance once again as the Thespian Thor, Matt Damon’s acting buddy as they are recreating Sam Neill’s death scene.

Sasha Hemsworth’s brother, Tristan, is seen as the story of Thor growing up is told. In the scene where a young Thor is running through the woods, that is actually Tristan running. What a great experience for an 8-year-old.

Speaking of great experiences for an 8-year-old, that is exactly what Sasha Hemsworth got in Thor: Love and Thunder. In it, Sasha played one of the New Asgard children that Gorr the Butcher stole using the shadow monsters. He was seen when Gorr sat down to tell the kids a horrific story. Another fun fact, two of Waititi’s children and Natalie Portman’s two children were also in that scene.

Sasha Hemsworth’s sister India also got in on the action in Thor: Love and Thunder. The 10-year-old played Gorr’s child, the one who Thor adopts. India got to act with her father in a fun sequence where they bicker about boots and pancakes, and she even gets in a little special effects time when she shoots laser beams from her eyes.

With the Hemsworths, it’s a family affair, and why not? Sasha Hemsworth and his siblings appear to be taking to it, so it is possible we will see them again on the big screen. If not, the elder Hemsworth clan appears to have a lot more to say on the big screen.
