We know she loves her pets and that she can pull the attention of an audience but Kate Beckinsale can apparently also save lives. In an Instagram post, the model shared a lineup of short videos of her taking on her next challenge – nursing school. Sitting in a lab with a friend, the three clips see the Pearl Harbor star successfully hooking up her friend with an IV.

Kate Beckinsale is attending nursing school, and sharing her progress with fans on social media.

Perhaps the best part of Kate Beckinsale’s Instagram share is that she brought high fashion into the classroom rather than dressed in some run-of-the-mill scrubs or other apparel one would expect to see on a nurse or doctor in training. Well, maybe not high fashion, as it certainly isn’t a couture dress but the actress can be seen wearing a pair of sweats complete with a bright green bikini. And, while she may not be wearing anything to keep her hair out of the way of her work, she is wearing a pair of black gloves, making everything perfectly sanitary.

While she may be taking a break from the entertainment industry to learn a new skill set, it seems unlikely that Kate Beckinsale will leave Hollywood for good for her medical pursuits.

Posted almost a month ago, the caption to Kate Beckinsale’s video lineup implies that she’s taking nursing classes on Sunday nights. In what capacity that is and how much she’ll be using her new skills in the future remains to be seen. But, judging from the calm demeanor of the person she’s practicing her needle placement on, the Underworld star has a natural knack for medicine.

Talking her through every step of the way, the instructor guiding Kate Beckinsale through her IV insertion kept an even tone, explaining what she needed to know for a safe and secure follow-through. Surprised at her own natural talent, Beckinsale seemed a bit taken aback that she nailed the mission on her first go. Enjoying the fluids pumping into his veins, the subject has a laugh with Beckinsale in the final clip before kicking back and getting hydrated.

Kate Beckinsale most recently joined the star-studded cast of Charlie Day’s (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) feature-length directorial debut, Fool’s Paradise.

While she may be taking a break from the entertainment industry to learn a new skill set, it seems unlikely that Kate Beckinsale will leave Hollywood for good for her medical pursuits. The English native has long held a place in the film industry with a successful modeling career on top of that. Still working on a handful of projects, audiences will likely remember spotting her in flicks such as Pearl Harbor, Serendipity, The Aviator, Click, and the Underworld franchise which would lead her into a run of action roles in titles including Total Recall and Jolt.

Kate Beckinsale most recently joined the star-studded cast of Charlie Day’s (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) feature-length directorial debut, Fool’s Paradise. There, she starred alongside Day, Jason Sudeikis, Adrien Brody, Ken Jeong, Ray Liotta, Edie Falco, and others. Up next, audiences can expect to see the animal lover in Pierre Morel’s spy thriller, Canary Black. While the feature has yet to announce a release date, we know that Beckinsale stars as CIA agent, Avery Graves, who is on a mission to rescue her husband from a group of terrorists bent on destruction.
