On the morning of May 23, actress Hilary Duff started trending on Twitter, and as usual no one ever trends on Twitter for something positive. In this case, the reasons behind people using the #HilaryDuff hashtag are particularly vile: They’re accusing her of being a sex trafficker.
The accusation stems from a video she posted on her Instagram Story a few days previous, in which she showed video of photos she’d taken of her kids. Here’s the video…
As you can see, sharp-eyed viewers captured on particularly strange and creepy photo in which a 5 or 6-year-old boy is lying naked on a bed. Bored Twitter users stuck in their homes due to the Coronavirus lockdown immediately jumped to the conclusion that she’s part of the #pizzagate pedophile ring conspiracy.
The accusations finally really took off when Hilary Duff was forced to address them on Twitter. Here’s her response…
We don’t know exactly what the photo is, but anyone who has kids knows kids get into a lot of weird mischief. We do know that the tape was added to the photo to keep the kid decent by Hilary. It seems like the boy is covered in lotion, so it’s possible he just did something really silly and his Mom took a photo of it. That’s pretty normal parenting, in most households.

However it seems clear there is nothing to these accusations and there’s really no good reason for Hilary Duff to be trending on Twitter, unless people want to talk about how nice she is and that she seems to be a pretty good Mom. Good Moms are in short supply these days, give this one a high-five and leave her alone.
