Glenn Gordon Caron has provided an update on Bruce Willis’ ongoing battle with dementia, according to Page Six. Caron, who created Moonlighting, is a longtime friend with Willis, and has maintained his relationship with him since he starred in the ABC series from 1985 to 1989. Caron confirmed that Willis is no longer verbal, but is happy to say that despite his condition, he’s “still Bruce.”

Moonlighting creator Glenn Gordon Caron says Bruce Willis’ health has deteriorated to the point where the star is “seeing life through a screen door.”

Caron stated that Bruce Willis was an avid reader, but no longer has the language skills to enjoy reading in his current state. But when he makes his monthly visit to the family’s residence, he senses that Willis does in fact recognize him, if only for a short while. In an attempt to describe what it’s like interacting with his friend, he says it’s almost as if Willis is “seeing life through a screen door.”

Bruce Willis retired back from acting in 2022 after making his aphasia diagnosis public, and it was just earlier this year that he was formally diagnosed with dementia. Once a prolific actor, the Die Hard star now lives under the care of his wife, Emma Heming, who makes updates on his condition via social media.

Caron briefly touched on how excited Bruce Willis was to hear that Moonlighting is now available for streaming on Hulu.

Though Heming doesn’t deny that dementia is a difficult condition to care for, she’s glad that he received a formal diagnosis so she could be properly equipped to accept the reality of the situation.

While Willis is fighting an uphill battle with a progressive disease with no known cure, his legacy remains intact, and the iconic roles he played throughout his television and movie career.

One thing that’s been made very clear about Bruce Willis’ diagnosis and retirement is that he is loved by his family and colleagues alike. Quentin Tarantino recently suggested that he’d love to pay tribute to the 68-year-old actor with his 10th and final film, The Movie Critic.

It’s evident that Willis will not be able to return to acting, but through the use of archival footage, he may still receive proper tribute from the Pulp Fiction director’s final directorial effort.

Bruce Willis saw his big break with Moonlighting and his portrayal of wisecracking detective David Addison. From that point forward, he became the megastar that we know and love today, and has appeared in over a hundred films.

What’s most impressive about Bruce Willis’ career is his range. Though he certainly made a name for himself with big-budget action franchises like the Die Hard films that we all know and love, he absolutely blew our minds with dramatic thrillers like The Sixth Sense, and made us cackle with sickening laughter while we watched Butch take a beating in Pulp Fiction.

Though we’re beyond saddened to hear news of Bruce Willis’ worsening condition, the best thing we can do is celebrate his legacy and wish his family comfort and peace during such a difficult time in their lives.
